Last post - getting too funny.
$10 on Briscoe. Only finisher, race is cancelled next year, can't afford the damage on the new DP01's. Last edited by lookleft; 22 Oct 2006 at 04:37. |

Fantastic first win for Philippe. What a top three! Philippe, Dominguez and Tagliani.
Great race. All the top guys making bonehead mistakes today. |

And the record of the Surfers race stays intact...a different winner every single year since 1991... amazing...

The car controller allowed him to go, thats where the problem lays.

I have to say, it was a good race. I expected it to be a bourdais win, a wipe out a turn 1 and an unexciting race. Thankfully Bourdais didn't win, we had a first time winner and some great racing through out the pack and unpredictability.
I have to say, I dislike Bourdais even more now with his move from no where to end Power's race and a very well deserved win. Well done to Nelson. He really has come on as a driver now. What was Kathrine doing? Three spins or whatever. She really needs to get her act together if she wants to earn a drive for next season. I feel the penalty on Tracy was above all pointless. Also I was very disapointed by the international commentry. James Hinchcliff again telling drivers what to do and saying phemonincal three hundred times and Jeremey Shaw not knowing what he was saying half the time. But overall an exciting race. I loved Tracy's passes today. Some fantastic stuff! |

Yah about that Tracy incident...
"In the driver's meeting, Tony Cotman said to all the drivers that 'we're gonna treat every shortcut incident as if there were a pack of cars' " So are you trying to tell me that if Tagliani was 45 seconds behind Tracy, he would have to let Tagliani ahead of him somehow? Tagliani was 3 seconds behind Tracy and not even a part of the incident between him and Dominguez. I think that the call was absolutely ridiculous. And i'm not even gonna START with how annoying Derek Daly was today... |

As was the seeming lack of action taken for Tracy pulling out of his pit bay straight across to the fast lane and into Will Power - you can blame the car controller all you like, but Paul drove straight across into the fast lane and the side of Will's car. The other stupid call was when Champ Car forced Briscoe to pit in one of the last safety car periods. Yes he was second in line and one lap down, but Pizzonia was about to make his last stop, Briscoe didn't have to stop again and would have got his lap back - another safety car and he's back on the tail of the pack. These three calls all saw me chucking stuff at the tele. |

i thought Briscoe did well although being a lap down he brought the car home clean and the only reason he lost the lap was because when he ran wide at turn 8 the marshals as he described it to Channel 10 after the race "patiant" to restart him and he also said they did that to Kathrine and they could of got him out before he went a lap down.

Great race, very unpredictable and exciting - big congrats to Phillippe! - and it's amazing the Streak somehow carried on for another year. Surfers' Paradise once again showed how a proper street circuit is supposed to be (they should replace rubbish such as San Jose with a second race at Surfers' ), and I'm already looking forward to the 2007 race

The other frustrating fact is, Tracy was side by side with Mario, he obviously lost ground, around seven car lengths, dirty tyres etc, yet what advantage was that? He actually went on the outside so hardly cutting. Then the fact he had to pull over and let Tagliani through who was a few seconds back. That rule really needs to change.
Also the first start was hilarious, I hate to say it but Champ Car starts are some of the worst there is, and this isn't a one off, it happens everytime... My one last little ranty...Jeremey Shaw throughing a fit because Junquiera was apparently blocking. He should not get a penalty for that. God sake. Driving in the middle of the track is not blocking. Its defending which is part of race craft. When you have a car along side and chopping him off unfairly is blocking. But overall a great race. I look forward to Mexico City. |

Yeah the Tracy call was very odd and he had every right to feel ripped off.
That said its kinda karma for pit lane thing with Power. |

When have you ever heard of that rule before? People ALWAYS lock up at Surfer's and take the shortcut to the chicane and they've never been penalized before!! |

great race!
I really enjoyed watching this one. I have to agree with the other forumites that the Tracy call was ridiculous, he didnt gain anything and no one was hurt by anything. Shame on what happen to power but sometimes the homecrowd can be a double bladed sword. Nice job by mario maybe this will help him cement some sponsors for next year, and of course great job by Phillipe. He really has grown up as a driver. Cheers, Moctezuma |
