That was 14 years ago and people are still talking about it. I don't think many people will be talking about Alonso overtaking Massa, as they were about to enter pit lane, in another 14 years.

True that. Alonso's move didn't have the last lap, intense, atmospheric build-up like Zanardi's move had. I doubt we will ever see a move like that again...

We might have too look outside of F1 and the IRL to see somethng like that again. For overtaking moves the best I ever saw was Ickx taking Lauda round the outside of Paddock in the rain at Race of Champions in '74. Pure racing, no championship at stake.

If you have to publicly state that everything is fine, then everything is not fine. Simples.

I dare say that Massa was far more content to be alongside Kimi than he is to be alongside Fernando.
Montezemolo wants them both to drive for the team, whatever that means? |

If that is true source, Massa's 85% gone. Kubica is unfulfilled boy, Massa lost his chance in 2008 by his mistakes in Aus and Mal and poor drive in Bri, and I don't really see any reason why Ferrari should keep him, unless he beats Fernando, and I think Kubica still has greater potential.

I don't think he's fully recovered from his accident. If anyone should have taken a sabbaticlal maybe Massa should have, that was a serious injury.

Kubica-Alonso would be a phenomenal combo IMO. But I still think Massa is well liked in Ferrari and I can't see him go.

Maybe now they think he's fractionally slower than before, so they start talking to Kubica. |

Kubica has proven to be a different animal to Massa. Kubica also has a history from Italy when he raced karts there. I would imagine the Ferrari team has already confirmed basic information on him, he's been acknowledged as the driver Hamilton fears in a decent car and he's friends with Alonso. Yes.... everyone will say Alonso will throw his toys out again, but I sincerely believe Alonso will respect Kubica as a rival. I don't think he ever felt that about Hamilton, mistakenly maybe, simply because he was a rookie, and his on-track actions speak volumes of what he thinks of Massa. In much the same way, Hamilton respects Button, but I think he believes given some straight forward dry races, he will have the measure of Button. Massa surprised everyone with his performances against Kimi, but that's of course if you particuarly rated Kimi in the first place. |

Good story. Massa started racing in Italy too, and has been Ferrari test driver... I don't think those little things count but certainly is the delight of every rumours.
If Ferrari sack Massa and replace him with Kubica, the only reason will be performance wise, nothing more than that. |

I think Rob Smedley should have the drive, listening to him on the radio it's clear he knows more about driving a race car than Massa.

Gotta feel sorry for Massa. Schumacher, Raikkonen and now Alonso. Poor guy!

If Kubica is friends with Alonso and he goes to Ferrari he will have to accept being inferior to Alonso (and I don't think he is nor will he) or that will be the end of that friendship....

After performances like this weekend's, surely getting the boot would not be undeserved. And it is an issue that is sinisterly "under investigation" by the team

Both drivers had issues with the car, Felipe the worst affected unfortunately and he wants to get on top of the handling. That's all really. |

For me yes.
If a deal can be done with Kubica then he will be at Ferrari [my guess 3 year deal...] |

the drama would be absolutely phenomenal, i don't know how it'd work on track though. kubica seems to need a bit of a (excuse the term) submissive teammate to work alongside. i think we already learnt from alonso's year at mclaren that he's a similar sort of driver in that respect

Now we will never know if Massa has been a really fast or just decent driver. Everything that goes from now on, he could blame on that crash he had last year. And I'm not saying that I could blame him if the conclusion ever rises = Alonso-superior/Massa-inferior.
