Confusion
I was not suggesting that the black #10 car was ever the Jardine car - differrent era altogether - I was just wondering what happened to the Jardine car or where it came from as it does not appear on ORC website ?.

Can Charles remember any details of the car apart from the make ?.
We have who he sold it to, but who did he buy it from ?. Even a date/year would help search the magazines if a name does not come to mind. Thanks for your help 275-GTB. |

"I sold the CRD to Lee Falkner mid year 2007. The chassis is a tubular space frame and the car was made by Ian Carrig in Melbourne in the early 80's. The body is identical to Mk7 Cheetah except that it has aluminium side pods and a flat floor. It has uprights and suspension very similar to Mk4/5/6 Cheetahs and a Ford Xflow engine with a Holinger/Hewland gearbox. It has early Cheetah wheels and Renault 12 brakes. I do not have any photos of the car without the body work. After I restored the car in 2004, and set the car up the way I wanted it, it was a real easy car to drive, and very competitive. I had two friends also race the car in the time that I owned it, and both were extremely competitive against the late model cars. It was the first historic car to win a current CAMS State Championship (2006)." |

Hi all,
I am new to this but was interested to see that the CRD 852 AF2 car got a mention. In relation to whether it was a Cheetah Mk 7 copy this is incorrect, it was a design of my dad's, using a spaceframe chasis, outboard shockers, pushrod Ford 1600 and VW gearbox with Hewland Mark 9 internals. The weels were Mk 4 Cheetah centres on steel rims. The only reason that it had a Mk 7 turret and nose was that ironically after the chasis was built dad borrwed the body work from Colin Fulton's Mk 7 and it went straight on. Good luck rather than good management. This was the last of three cars built by dad and was completed for the start of 1985 hence the 852 chasis number. We are still very involved in racing as we have the only Hardman JH-1 F2 left and run it in historic racing. When we first bought the Hardman in 1994 we ran AF2 until 1998 where we moved to Formula Holden. Regards Rohan |

I am pretty sure it would have been taken in about 1992 or 1993, it was during the Champion of Winton series that the Benall Auto Club ran in the early 90's. It was a long time before the circuit was so wonderfully?? extended.

Just wondering if you were still looking for some history on the MK6 Cheetah. I used to own that car in Tasmania. I purchased it from Geoff Sherriff and sold it to Rod Moody. I ran the car locally for about a year. Let me know if you need any further information. I have lots of photos.

The Chassis Archiver
Hello Andrew - can you post some photos of your car please and can you remember any other owners before Geoff Sherriff.
Any details you can add about the car will help us identify which Mk6 you owned of the 13 that we think were built by Brian Shead. |
