I don't see any date for the Spa 24 except either 5-6 or 12-13 Sep. The next two weekends after that are Le Mans and N24, then IGTC at Indy. Then we're into October in the Ardennes...

Spa, Le Mans and N24 on consecutive weekends?!

Edit to add: and that's without considering where the F1 GP would go...

ah yes, just like every single company in every country affected should cancel all work and continue to pay employees their full rate /s

the industry will collapse. complete cancellation is not the answer.

WEC and F1 not cancelling Spa yet. Some ambiguity around what constitutes a mass gathering. SRO may have moved too soon.

as i understand it - marcel may have more up to date intel - sro were consulting the belgian govt about perhaps holding the 24 behind closed doors before the announcement. perhaps that's still on the table.

it'd make very little difference to the british gt event the week earlier - if i remember rightly crowds aren't really a thing there cause it's usually the belgian national day in the middle of the weekend.

Even if they define mass gathering, wouldn't having the Spa 24 after be better plan? That race behind closed doors seems like a last last last resort, it appears to be well attended.

it is normally well attended, yeah. it's also not cheap for them to put on, so bearing in mind how many test days they'll lose the income from and that kind of stuff it might work for the circuit to hold the event but have less going on (they'd have to keep hospitality...) and thus lower running costs.

the pits and paddock are incredibly crowded though, there's a lot of people working in a small space.

Two elements are always taken into consideration when it comes down to resuming the sporting events.

1. Authorisation of the various public authorities to hold the event, even if it is to be without public or with a limited public.

2. The large majority of the teams entered in the series must be able to travel to join the event.

So because things might be tough and not as full a schedule as planned it should be cancelled?

Indeed he is not. He is just a fan giving his opinions, which in these dark times doesn't worth much. We all forecast “catastrophic” results for any series that don’t hold any races this year, as the extended downtime would force many teams to close their doors or move to other series where they can race.

Holland extends events ban

It clashes with an ADAC GT Masters round. Unfortunate for sure, I think ADAC would have to move their date here. They can clash with GTWC Europe, IGTC pretty much anywhere else but I think a clash with the Spa 24 Hours would really impact them not just for this race but for the season as teams will know they will have to miss around they may forgo running the series full time.

Doesn't have to be. Just check the videos from 24h 2CV in recent years - as they were also on that last October weekend.

Is it really? I mean weather at Spa is like predicting the lottery. I would guess Dec-Mar probably isn't as much of a lottery as poor choice.
