You can only be a one hit wonder if you win only one race in your career.
Unless Lewis Hamilton falls off his perch in the next week,he can't be one yet. I also did predict the demise of JPM quite well at the start of the thread too. |

top team again. Button? He's still only 27, so I'd say he'll notch another win somewhere before his career comes to a close. But F1 is such a fickle sport. He's being beaten by RB at Honda, appears disinterested. And now with the emergence of Lewis Hamilton as Britain's new star, Button's star has faded. He may never sit in a winning car again. |

What's the longest gap between a driver's first two wins?

Think Patrese might have the longest gap between wins, but that was from 2nd to 3rd. Unless you count Chiron's war-induced gap between the French GPs in 1934 and 1947 (or 1949 for a closer same-formula race). |

Trulli will stay as a one hit wonder unless Toyota magically pick up form very quickly.
Button. He has time on his side but I don't know if Honda will ever become a true front-runner to beat the likes of McLaren and Ferrari consistently. Hamilton won't be in the club for too long... |

Had to check that longest gap between 1st and 2nd wins and the winner is not John Watson but Mario Andretti. He won 1971 season-opener at Kyalami and then 1976 season-finale at Fuji. That makes it 5 years and 7½ months. Watson had to wait his second for 4 years and 11 months.

Good stuff. Still, Watson will have done more races in between, as Mario only did intermittent F1 alongside IndyCars at that time.

The only reason that Mario Andretti wasn't winning in F1 during the early and mid-1970s is because he didn't have any time. I mean, in 1974 and '75, he was teamed up with Parnelli Jones at a team that was competing in Formula 1, SCCA Formula 5000, the USAC Championship Trail, and the USAC Silver Crown dirt series...all at the same time! While he was waiting for Parnelli to build a proper F1 machine in 1974, he bode his time by winning the USAC Silver Crown championship and finishing runner-up in the Formula 5000 series. And all that was a slow year for him, since the Parnelli F1 car wasn't ready until the penultimate race of the season, and Sebring, Daytona, and every other important sports car race in North America had been cancelled due to the oil crisis. Mario, Parnelli, and their team were completely overstretched during that period, and it took until 1976 for someone to draw the line and put a stop to the madness. Parnelli Jones finally decided to stick with IndyCars, while Mario concentrated on Formula 1 during the next several years while making occasional IndyCar appearances for Roger Penske's team.

Lewis jumps off this list pretty quickly then?
Who has had a 2nd win straight after the 1st? |

That's not a lot of people since 1950.
Do we get awkward about Ascari (F2 regs and all the rest)? I think it best not to, but just a question. |

Well, Lewis is now a two-hit wonder. In short time we will see if he improves to a three-hit wonder

I think the ultimate wonder value could end up quite a bit more than that, .

Please welcome to the One-Hit Wonder Club, Mr. Robert Kubica! Say hello to him while you can; I don't think he'll be staying here for too long.

A bit longer than the last noob though I'd say, given his equipment.
Welcome aboard Robert Kubica! |

Well, let's just say he's not going to be lurking in a dim corner for the next four years like a certain Italian driver with a Scandinavian name.

Nor did he win 4 years ago. I think Fish was referring to Jarno Trulli.

I dont think Robert will be in this club long, however Trulli and Button are lifetime members.
