Looks like MSVR are not getting the lease then, as they run the BSB Championship that has just scrapped it's Sep 2010 Donington round, to be now run at Cadwell!

I'm really struggling to see how Donington will be able to do anything in the future. It's a great track with a bucketful of history and I (used to) love going to watch races there.
Thanks a bunch Simon. |

Touring cars can then switch to lydden. Hope they get it sorted soon, but who is going to be interested when most clubs have released there 2010 calendars without donington already... |

WSBK's are making a Decision in January.
The Ron Haslam Race School is moving to Silverstone. Donington has now also lost the Auto GP Meeting due to take place Sep 3-5 2010, it is now going to be at Brands Hatch. The 750MC, HSCC, MSVR, New Era, NGMCC, BRSCC (except running the British Gt Meeting on behalf of SRO) are all giving Donington a miss next year. |

All these meetings (Auto GP, Superleague, F2) moving south is a real blow for us fans in the north midlands and north of the country
I'm just curious as to who the other two interested parties are, if we're taking it that MSVR/Palmer are (or were) one. |

GT Sport have today also confirmed that the 2010 Donington rounds of International GT Open and European F3 Series have been transferred to Brands Hatch.

ohhh more good news for me!.... However when you hear news like this it does just emphasise the huge problems Donnington have got themselves into. It's a shame to "lose" such a good circuit. I really hope they get back up and running successfully

I dont think Donington themselvess have got themselves into any trouble?
If I was mr Gillett I would feel about as popular as a wheel clamper right now? How can the man live with what he has done? |

Yes, but that has nothing to do with Donington Park itself & indeed the plans have been posted somewhere on 10-Tenths before. There is still a significant area of farm land & planned to be a number of industrial units between DP & this development.
You could even argue that it's a very good thing for DP as the relief road that's planned alongside the housing development will help ease traffic through to DP from the north. |

1. Nimbyism about the noise. 2. The 'Relief road', as outlined in the earlier plans for the area (so far as I can tell) was not up to much and further resulted in the imposition of 'traffic calming' on the main road through the village. Thus, so far as I could see, absolutely no net gain. Of course with few if any large capacity events to cater for in the foreseeable future (and the amount of time the planning application and building would take) it's all a bit moot for the track as it stands. However, shold it recover over the next, say, 10 years and reclaim, say, MotoGP should it still exist, the potential for double chaos caused by building development and large meetings could be substantial. It may be time to move if they are going to allow another 1000 or more houses ... |

Isn't that what has emasculated Brands? A housing estate built next door, not on their land. DEveleopment of houses adajacent to Croft certainly has affected that circuit, and the Law does not protect the noise maker that was there first! John |
