Another article from Motorsport.com with an artists impression of what the car might look like. I have to give Jens Marquardt and BMW credit, they have kept this provject super secret so far and no one has any idea what the car is going to look like.

Yeah Sean, considering they have no information on the project this would be their best guess.
I would say this rendering isn't even int he ballpark on what the final car will be. |

Teo Martin Motorsport could take part in the 2019 Le Mans 24 Hours with a BMW M8, with the International GT Open squad evaluating a step up to the world’s stage with the Bavarian manufacturer’s new GTE car, should it become available to customers.
“We have asked [BMW] to run it next year. Unfortunately for us, it will only be a factory program in 2018,” Martin told Endurance-Info. “I’m keeping it in the corner of my head. If the opportunity comes in 2019, then we will seriously consider it.” http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/s...ay-notebook-5/ |

That looks like a whale alright. Hopefully the GTE car will be as "extreme" as they describe it to be

I hope they build it with racing in mind from scratch, so they don't need a billion waivers to get it through homologation. Transaxle gearbox, suspension pickup points in the right places, a decent chassis to build from etc.

Some figures from road cars:
Length: Ford GT 2017 = 4,76 meters or (187,5") BMW M6 2016 = 4,89 meters or (192,7") Bentley Continental GT = 4,80 meters (189″) With: Ford GT 2017 = 2,00 meters or (78.9") BMW M6 2016 = 1,90 meters or (74,8") Bentley Continental GT = 1,94 meters (77″) Height: Ford GT 2017 = 1,11 meters or (43,7") BMW M6 2016 = 1,37 meters or (54,1") Bentley Continental GT = 1,40 meters (55″) The Main diference is the Height... Did anyone have the "race car´s" figures?!?!? |

Equally the race versions of these sedans are much lower than the street versions, therefore I do not think the height is so problematic. The length should be a big advantage in Le Mans, allowing a better Top speed and a large diffuser. The long tail cars were successful cars at Le Mans, the GT1 of the end of 90's (Porsche GT1 98, Mc Laren GTR long tail, Mercedes CLK GTR, Toyota GT1) were in 4.90 meters more or less. |

If used as GTE this car presented in the silhouette image will surely not be as extreme as the Ford GT or even the Ferrari 488, but I have the feeling that it will take the advantage of the length and this M8 will be very competitive in Le Mans. http://periodismodelmotor.com/wp-con...W-M6-GT3-8.jpg http://www.bmwgrandriver.com/wp-cont...w-m6-gt3-2.jpg http://www.diariomotor.com/competici..._1100x440c.jpg |

The render is interesting but the roof line looks crushed and the car is just way too long. hope the final product somehow is a bit more compact but I doubt it.

Thankfully that's just the concept. I like the shape and the fastback design but the kidney grill is disproportionately large compared to the headlights. Can't wait to see it in production and race trim.

Agreed TF110 the final car will be more toned down from the concept. Starting to really like the shape now but will reserve judgment when the final car is revealed.
