Cochrane may have come to sport from the showbusiness perspective (emphasis on business) - but purchasing a series for $52k and then having the same series valued at $330 million 15 years later would suggest that most other racing cultures would gladly have him in a senior role. |

Ha! You're tired of chatting about the merits of F1 stewards and the accumulative effects of controversial crashes, but you want to follow me here and comment about this?
I would say something. But I have to clarify what I would say internally, and I can't be bothered right now as I'd rather go on other forums I'm on and watch Australian MTV. I'll see what anybody else has to say first. |

Don't misinterpret stepping away in an attempt to to prevent a flame war with being tired of the conversation. If there is a conversation to be had, then great. But if your posts are being confrontational for the sake of confrontation - I would suggest a look back through the FAQs is merited - https://tentenths.com/forum/faq.php?faq=posting_faq |

As we have strayed off the path into an evaluation of Cochrane my 2 cents worth.
He took an undervalued sport and commercialised it.My objections at the time were his predatory attitude towards circuits and non Supercar competitors. He had no sense of the sport as a whole and saw everyone and everything else involved in it as a target to be gouged. The Australian motor racing ecosystem is too fragile for this not to hurt everyone else in it. It was not inevitable that someone else would have come along and done the same stuff.Look at how ARG have worked as an alternate model. As for $350million it was never worth that as Archer found the day they were handed the keys.In the sale process Cochrane was a dead ringer for the monorail salesman in The Simpsons.I was staggered at the time Archer were that gullible. And if he is such a genius how can you explain the train wrecks of every sports venture he has been involved with since? Back to the Creek. |

This will all change, and hopefully for the better, with the Supercar influence. ARG and Supercars will be in more than the two states that Ross Palmer was allegedly ever in. |

Supercars influence? It’s ARG that has bought Supercars…

Other than the product it is quite obvious that there are organisational people in, Supercars that ARG needs or they, would have run their own date and not ended up being second fiddle.

It would be great to see a return to the old days with a combined field for the 1000 race but I am sure there will be howls of NO if it was be considered.

I don’t understand why you want to seperate ARG from Supercars? They are now one and the same |
