Well at least he’s kept himself busy since he left F1 and good for him

Audi reportedly ran 1:41s back in 2015. Granted, the ACO did act to slow down the LMP1s in recent years, but the 2017 Toyota set the all time fastest lap around Le Mans and matched that last year.
When it's crunch time, I'd expect to see 1:40s or 1:39s maybe. |

I think in qualifying they might get 1:38's or lower. They're usually a couple or so seconds faster than race pace. I don't believe they were trying for qualifying laps in a 30-hour test so I think sub 1:40 is definitely possible. I really want to see if the non-hybrids are close on pace. I hope they are and would think they will be if it's dry.

I'd guess that would depend on EOT/BOP and if Michelin have the new privateer spec tires ready for Sebring.

No ByKolles for Sebring http://www.dailysportscar.com/2019/0...s-sebring.html It seems there's a riff with Nissan concerning the engine performance and payment?

I’m surprised ByKolles hasn’t paid for something.

Colin Kolles has a long and well known story of insolvent backlog; nothing new actually.

Might be more to it than that. I guess we'll have to wait for more details or they get a new engine. The latter sounds like it's nearly a done deal. I doubt the new one comes for free so where's the debate? Unsatisfied customer not paying for a subpar product or...?

Mr Kolles has used that argument before, but it didn't stand up to scrutiny. He was unable to pay Dallara to develop his F1 chassis before, so Dallara stopped work. When he then resumed payments, he claimed that the Dallara chassis was terrible - in reality, it was 6 months behind everyone else, because he didn't pay them for 6 months. He then tried to blame the entire performance issues of his team on Dallara.
But since he couldn't develop his own chassis, and nobody else would sell him one because they knew they wouldn't get paid, he had to continue using the Dallara chassis for years. And it actually turned out quite good. That is a summary of why so many people don't see ByKolles as the fun plucky underdogs that are always on the grid. A lot of people just don't like Colin Kolles. |

Some of you seem to be forgetting that although Good Doctor's dealings have been questionable in the past, it is after all pretty much the only private team on the grid that's been able to make every race they intended to after they entered COTA 2014. Even that one Asian raced after it seemed that the chassis was done for after massive fire. The exception was 2017 when thet only did couple of races however that was communicated to the ACO before the start of the season, so it was planned.
Anyway, seeing how Nissan has had zero effort and involvement in the "DPi" side for ESM and now CORE either, and the ACO killed them off from LMP2, I don't think they have their hearts in this very much either |

Nissans GT3 efforts have been somewhat scaled back as well.

Sometimes you don’t need a
That’s fair. Although it wasn’t forgotten, perhaps it hasn’t been enough to offset the general overarching feeling. |

Bykolles is one big mystery...
Anyhow, if they do return to Le Mans with AER once again, and if Ginetta somehow also miraculously return with that powerplant in place of ditched Mechachrone, it will be quite a showroom for AER [to blow up] |

Well it isn't the 2.0L so it might not be a grenade. The rest of their lineup seems to actually function as a race engine

Regardless of the politics I'm just gutted we wont see the car at Sebring
May not have been the fastest out there, but it bought variety, for as long as it lasted anyway... Hopefully this is more of a genuine "hitch" and not another Ginetta. |
