It was such a tall order for someone of JV's age to be consistent in a Hypercar. They may be slower than LMP1 in their peak, but they're still brutal to drive and you need to be on your game physically. That's before you get into the concentration required in traffic and the night running, something he struggled with a decade and a half ago with Peugeot.
Massive shame he won't be there. Hope we see him return - I think he'd be very competitive in GT. |

If that's how they chose to release a driver I can't imagine them contracting anyone decent in the future. Releasing a public statement without speaking with the driver first is low and the release made it sound like a mutual step away from tiny human and not walking papers.

It does seem straight from crazy town to do it that way, but didn't it happen a couple different times last year in open wheel? Palao and piastri? There can't be that much stupidity that people think it plays out in their favor when they make one sided announcements like that.. but then again no one's announced my contract so what do I know.

The news about JV not driving is old, so why all this stuff now. To be honest it would have nice to see him at le mans but also to be honest he was not very fast and made to many mistakes anyway

Seems to be a bit of a he said, she said situation. Apparently motorsport.com has seen some e-mails showing Villenueve quit before Vautier was announced.

I'm not 100% onboard with motorsport.com's reporting prowess. Lots of tilt and positioning in their articles from what I've seen, but then again, they don't write any articles about me so
If jv meant to quit ahead of time, wouldn't his quotes have indicated such? Last edited by seanyb505; 1 Jun 2023 at 01:25. |

Well I hope the car is quick regardless of who's driving it.

It's a tired cliché that a ByKolles prototype catches fire. The real cliché here is ByKolles preparing for Le Mans with a minor legal scandal brewing in the background.
Really pleased for these guys that they managed to snatch controversy from the jaws of serenity. They had us all for a moment. |

Well it looks like Kolles is the 'good guy' in this saga. But to me, I just want to see the car do well. They're on the grid, they're racing and it's one of the best looking cars in the class.

Looking at the close-ups from scrutineering today, it really does look good.
