Instead of talking about next year's Le Mans, how about we discuss the '67-70 races for a bit?
I've just been reminded that The 24 Hour War is available for purchase. While I can only find good things from the usual sources, both in and out of motorsport, with shipping bringing the total to just under what I'm prepared to pay for a single BD (£25), I thought I'd ask of anyone here has either picked it up, seen it or can otherwise offer a recommendation. Back to the Ford-Ferrari years for a moment ...
I've been catching up with The Grand Tour and episode 6 has James May narrating a segment on Ford's involvement, from the fallout over Ferrari's acquisition up to and including the '66 race. While it is expectedly focused on Ford and the English connection (particularly Lola* & Ken Miles), there is enough time given to Ferrari's account - including driving a P3 - to leave a good overall impression of the events leading up to Ford's first victory. It's easily the best piece I've seen on the show and if you're not bothered by the mainstream presentation of sportscars, I'd recommend watching it. It's not that hard to find if you don't have Amazon Prime, but if you're having trouble PM me *Although they don't mention Lola by name, even though May is standing outside their old factory at times. |

Next week Sunday 15th of january, the Snooker Masters at Alexandra Palace will start and I will be there 15th till 18th to watch the craftmanship of Ronnie O'S. and co.
But like previous years, I'll be arriving the Saturday, and like last year, Isynge will be preparing a tour around several breweries located in or near Bermondsey, London. Last year, Isynge, GT6 and I had a wonderful time sampling the hoppy, barley and yeast smoothies produced by the breweries, while in the meantime catching up and chatting along. For the moment it is Isynge and I on the attendance list, I reckon GT6 would like to join us as well. Any other interested parties? Feel free to join us Saturday 14th for a few beers and cheers! |

In the vein of a change being as good as a rest, was thinking of possibly floating idea of a South London theme as an alternative to Bermondsey (so in brewery terms Gipsy Hill, London Beer Factory, and Southey - all punctuated by a number of very solid friendly pubs) but happy to be swayed either way. |
