Price is probably achieveable, especially when someone paid $200+K (incl buyers premium) for a roadie A9X Sedan last week! http://www.shannons.com.au/pages/auc...6M7D69473VC80D |

Come on now people, $200k-$500K for a creaky old 1970's sedan? What has the world come to?

It was converted to rally specification, and run by Andrew Williamson in the NSW state rally series for quite a long time. Not sure where it ended up after that... perhaps a call to Pacific Motors will bring back the memories....

Was for sale recently, I think the owner was in Canberra and dot in a huge hurry to sell. Try searching on google for it, I think Anthony Hyde's Volvo site would have some info or a link.
Don't know Anthony's site name, but there is a link to it on www.ovlov.net |

Yep, that would be the one bought by the O'Brien family and run as a sports sedan for a few years. It's still in the O'Brien Aluminium colours.

I presume This Alfa was the Toy Shop car, that became the 2nd factory car.. and later the blue & white Pye car??
No price... I thought this chassis got wrecked at one stage? And is it the same one Barry Lake tested for Motor? |

Nope, that would be the ex-Bond car from 1986. That was a brand new shell that replaced the Luigi-built car that was written off in the mass pile-up in the 1985 Surfers enduro. This car was indeed the one track-tested by Barry Lake in 1986.
The other car - the one Bond started out driving in 1985 - was the ex-Group E car from 1984, converted for Group A use. This became the Toy Shop car for late 1985, before becoming the Pye car for the 1986 JH1000. I think this car later became a sports sedan. If you have a search, prn 31 gave a very good summation of the chassis histories of these cars earlier in this thread (or the other Group A one, or the other other Group A one, I'm not sure). |

Glad these cars have come up as there'll surely be a Grp A GTV6 history thread before long!!

Wow! Big money for a car with no really outstanding history. Presumably, it's the ex Perkins unit used in the ATCC, not the TWR built machine driven to victory at Bathurst that year by Grice/Percy.
