Good point, but I'm talking about today's version P2 which really got its start in 2011.

Kind of irrelevant, although if we are allowed to, I might go back and put in a vote for Groups 4, 6 and 7 then.

Looking just from an entertainment point of view, would you still make it your first choice ? That's the only factor I took into account to make my list.
I could watch a P1 car circle around by itself for hours and preferably a privateer car like MM or Rebellion.

Do it, the speed the LMP1 cars carry through quick corners is mesmerizing. The Toyota's and Rebellions's through Maggots/Becketts at Silverstone were astonishng, especially the snap, crackle and pop of the Rebellions getting on and off the throttle.

I took a friend to her first ever motor race and her immediate reaction was wow and lots of gawping at this years WEC Silverstone round, especially the Hangar straight and Maggots and Becketts. Hell, she even watched the full live stream of the Spa round as well, another convert to sports car racing.

Hah! I know the Texas summer heat! My brother lived in Houston for a couple years. I grew up in NJ so the beach was my friend. Im used to it. Lots of water and a hat and I'll be good. The main concern is figuring out how to get to the track or where to stay. I have a few months.

I'll be down there too. I live 3 hours away so it'll be a pretty easy journey. We should meet - and talk about how much Audi rules and watch the Toyota's hybrid systems fail.

Stay as close to downtown as you can and you'll want to rent a car. There are no shuttles out there and it's a little too far for a cab. Make sure you book a room before they realize there is an event going on.

Take the advice and book a hotel room quickly - you can always cancel it if you change your mind

It can still be done. If you stay near the airport you will be halfway from downtown and the track. I'd figure $25 cab ride to go either way. Also, my hotel ran shuttles to downtown about once an hour.

When talking about the general ranking of GT cars in terms of speed, where do the Australian V8 Supercars rank? Faster than DTM? Somewhere between DTM and Japanese GT500 Supercars? I guess I'm just interested if we put all of these GT cars on a track how would they come out in terms of lap time speed. I'm guessing both the Japanese GT500 Supercars and the DTM cars would be faster than GTE but am thinking GTE might be slightly faster than Australian V8 Supercars or am I wrong?

That sounds about right. At COTA they were 1sec faster than WC in qualifying, so maybe GT3ish in speed.
