Well there's two revelations in Aarrgh8's post;

1. I was kidding when I suggested it was worth $5

2. Melbourne isn't the only place having a crappy rug & junk sale on at the moment.

Does anyone ever pay full price for a Persian Rug????

From memory the ABC used their own in house music for most of their productions so i don't know if there are recordings of it available.

Channel 7 used part of a tune called "Duel" by a German band called Propaganda in the 70's and 80's. They deleted the words and used the tune only. Good Luck in finding a copy available.

Hope this of some help.

storyline should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Following on from this - it looks like New Zealand is the place to be in the next few weeks for some decent race cars - just received a press release from an NZ contact about the 2005/6 Flexoplas NZ Express F5000 Revival Series.

This little tidbit was encased in the release:

Quote:
Lyons - one of three UK drivers to compete in the inaugural Tasman Revival Series for Formula 5000 cars two years ago - decided last week that he would airfreight his recently acquired ex James Hunt 1976 McLaren M26 Formula 1 car to drive instead.

With the entry of Christchurch man Phil Mauger and his ex Denny Hulme 1973 M23 already confirmed, Lyons' decision means that there will now be two pukka period McLaren F1 cars at the Historic Racing Club meeting at Pukekohe Park on January 28 and 29 and the Skope Classic at Christchurch's Powerbuilt International Raceway at Ruapuna Park on February 4 & 5.

Just a note to say that the three Touring Car races from Warwick Farm are being repeated 'by popular demand' on January 30.

ABC Late Night Legends (Merged x6)

For those who missed it (including me) tonite "Back by popular demand" says ABC2. Its on at 10.45 only on ABC2.

Those who saw it the first time can give a more detailed description.

I recon its pretty good stuff, even if I havent sat through all of it.

Especially for those of us who werent even born at the time of the recording.

Hopefully ABC2 will have more to show in the not too distant future...........

I'm too young to remember touring cars at Warwick Farm, but watching these beasts going flatout around the long sweeping track, it shows how bland and boring tracks like QLD Raceway are.

Its almost like a NASCAR road course really - very little braking involved. But the character of the track (racing through tree-lined sections, across and around lakes etc) really make me upset I was born 20 years too late!

Still the first race they showed in 1970..felt like it was done a 1000 yrs ago. Things have improved dramatically since then.

Sports Sedans on ABC 2

Watched the Swan series from 1980 on ABC 2 and they also had the F2 race from Sandown (won by John Bowe) and the Sports Sedans won by Jim Richards in the Falcon.
Scary thing is the SS field looked exactly the same as a typical one today.
Also what was with Moffats orange RX7? that's a car I havent ever seen.

Moff got a car off Mazda US (an IMSA GTU car) to show CAMS that it was not a giant killer. Brock even got a drive of it. Moff could only run the car as a SS at the time.

What program was this in? It isn't advertised as part of the recent or upcoming Legends Series - so was this another program (not advertised?)
