My personal thought Bella, is that Massa came back for the one year for the money from Martini/Williams and to "put an arm around" Stroll.
Williams have now taken the money option for this year in both drivers, the controlling influence from Mr Stroll's wallet. Without him, I think they would truly struggle in todays climate, which is a real shame. |

I think his main motivation for coming back was that he wanted to race. He didn’t really want to retire. He’d have stayed again I suspect.
I doubt he cared that much for a Stroll, but I would have thought that he is a decent guy and did help out. |

Yes, what I meant Adam. I think he was not happy at "retiring" again. Give it a while and I think he will speak out..rightly or wrongly.

Yeah. At some point he’ll be interviewed, perhaps in a Motorsport podcast type way. Relaxed and with the time between the events he’ll be more open. I see no great harm.

Massa wasn’t ready to retire, Williams just didn’t think he had much of a future

I can’t find a link to this at the moment, but I read an article awhile back that had a quote from Williams that said Massa wanted a decision prior to the Brazil race (keep me or not). Problem was that Williams was not ready to make a decision on that timeline, so Massa took himself out of the running. Granted... Williams took a long time to figure out who was going to be in that seat. And it very well may have been if they can’t find a large paycheck, then keep Massa. So the time was spent searching for who could bring money. Richard |

Sth similar to say "If you want an apricot, don't blame its fluff".
English translation for an Argie popular modern catchphrase. |
