I think i may have suggested this before.Perhaps BE would consider installing some sort of random sprinkler system to spice up some of the races. He ought to start with Hungary.

There must be pun potential there........

It has been mentioned by lots of people over the years, but thankfully it has seemed to be ignored completely if the person meant it - or laughed at if it was only ever meant as a joke!

Imagine if they actually seriously tried it.......... that would be a real situation.......

Sorry Dutton, but I don't agree with the "we are where we are" idea. That just gets people who make bad decisions off the hook. The only way to get bad decisions reversed or changed is by protesting about them. In this case, if the changes to qualifying remain I'll protest in the only way that BE will take any notice of... I'll reduce his TV audience figure

Practice and qualifying are incidental.

It's the race that matters.

what gets me was this format was somehow deemed boring, as sometimes the only cars to show face in the first 20 minutes were the minardis(you remember them...loveable minnows, everyones second team etc ) - but almost every second race we'd get these incredible last ten minutes, where the pole was trading hands every few laps, right down to whoever managed to cross the line for one final full on, light fuel, maximum attack on the pole time...

and now, now we're "entertained" by unlucky drivers who have to go out in the rain spinning off, or the world champion tip toeing around into 18th place...because its their slot. i'm missing something obviously..

I think at the moment BE will be quite happy the way things are turning out.He is only interested in the entertainment side of things and if yesterday annoyed the purist element,it would certainly have won over a few casual viewers which let's face it keep F1 on TV anyway.

Well not sure that is true. The essence of sport is having a competition whereby the competitors succeed or fail depending, as far as possible, on their own actions/abilites IMHO.

The problem we had when everyone went out at the same time is quite often we wouldn't get to see the best laps. The TV cameras can't put them all on our TVs at the same time, could be quite frustrating at times.

that is true, but I was willing to accept that possibility. I used to find qualifying deeply excitign and interesting, but from 2003 on I am afraid, in the most part, that spark has gone.

One of the aspects I did like when they changed it in 2003 was getting to see a session on Friday, that was class, but they soon made sure they removed that bit of positive feeling..........

On the subject of DC. Had this been last year his time in the second qualifying would have been good enough for, hmm 4th!

I liked the race.... no problems with the result, but I think if I'd paid for seats to watch qualifying I would have felt short changed.

A big well done to Red Bull Racing, both cars scoring points on their debut. It was great seeing DC up in the top or once batteling it out.
And some points for Klein to start of his season.
