I do think they need to keep a close eye on the riding standards, but need to be careful they don't punish every incident like most other series do.

Yes Gordon but I think its more likely coaching/ managing. Seems he could help both Ducati and Pecco to find the perfect settings following rider's requirements and not only applying what the computer says.

I can't see Casey coming back to riding, but can see him in a coaching/mentor role. No reason for him not to pass on lessons he's learned when he was riding, there's so much people can learn from him

A little table resuming the situation in MotoGP.
{Please, look the table below} (Explanation: Just to put things in context, I call "Easy" to be able to overcome the gap to leader without much difficulty (approx >10% probability). I call "Hard" when it is difficult to overcome that gap (approx <10%, but >1%). Finally, I call "Out" when it is unlikely to overcome that gap (approx <1%). ) BIG PICTURE: Not big news here: QUA and AESP are the only one with a "Easy" path to the title. BAG, BAS and ZAR are still in the fight but have a hard task to do. MIL, BBIN, etc, are out of the title in any reasonable sense. FINE DETAILS: THINGS TO ACHIEVE/AVOID IN AUSTRIA There are some fine details, though, consisting in how those riders' status can evolve in the next race. I have called it "Need to do" in the table. It means the points goal they have as a goal to achieve or avoid. For example:
(Sorry for this long post.) |

in theory Ducati should rule in Austria
how many in front of Fabio is the question, anybody else? Espargaro, Vinales have fast bikes now KTMs? after that comes Misano .. Yamaha should be more competitive there, but it's Peco's home track |

The title race is definitely hotting up again. Espargaro is keeping in touch. He will be determined. Bagnaia did a brilliant job to win at Silverstone, but he needs to cut out his mistakes that have cost him.

Reliability (i.e. very few errors) was one of the strong points of Valentino Rossi. He was excellent bringing the bike home with some points even in isolated bad weekends.
Also, he had a very precise control of the "frontier" between going very fast and crash, that fine line between grip and skid. Quartararo is very good at this, too. Pecco Bagnaia has showed several times in the past that he has not mastered it (yet?). Anyway, Marc used to crash a lot, with his daring, flamboyant style, and he is/was hugely successful and basically he is a legend. But... he was not just fast, he was super fast... |

And VR was very good when overtaking too he dared in places where many others were hesitating. I think Pecco will improved his riding and MM will be back soon at his best, may be next year.

Looks like we will have sprint races in MotoGP next year. Great idea. Look how much it's added to F1. Oh wait....

regarding the sprint race .. it's not like WSBK Superpole race .. as it doesnt change the starting order, and neither like F1 sprints .. those decide grid also well .. we'll see |

Miller really threw away that big chance there. Bagnaia takes his fourth win in a row. Just think if he hadn't made those mistakes earlier in the year?

would be in front of the championship..
it was Miller time on Saturday.. I think it was unlikely he could've kept it in front of Peco or Enea if he didnt floor it. |

main things from Aragon.
Marques comes back and ruins Fabio's Race .. not intentionally No Team Orders at Ducati .. 17 points for the top 3, with Enea still close. |

48 points adrift but several more opportunities coming up, great overtake on Pecco and separated by half a bike length at the line. Will they make good team mates?

Ducati will have a headache the whole 2023 Season
if they fight too much and others are close in pace .. Ducati might lose |

Courageous ride from MM, Millertime in Motegi and by a country mile whilst the title contenders scrap for the last points. How unlucky for Aleix on the Aprilia at the start.

And a bit ambitious from Bagnaia on the last lap. Sure Fabio did not expect to finish 8th and almost double his championship lead.
Sad way for Suzuki to bow out with their last home GP a Double (Mechanical) DNF. Thailand this next weekend will be interesting. And kudos to Nakagami for getting to the end considering the injuries he was carrying from Aragon. |
