On the day of her funeral all British motorsport was called off. It was a Saturday though, so racing could go ahead on Sunday. The BTCC had to have a different quali format that weekend, with fastest laps from the first race deciding the grid for the second

I was running an A&D kart race at Combe,.plus there was a track day on the maim circuit. You've no idea the vitriol and hatred we received. But it soon blew over.
