The height is a fundamental point, if they can take the car to the height of the Ford GT, and with 5 meters of long, they have a long tail GT1 prototype, like the end of 90´s. For that reason surely the two rival GTE teams protesting.

How tall will the road car be is the question. I hope it's a sleek low slung coupe. The concept looks decent in that regard, so lets see how the M8 turns out.

DSC says: "BMW initially planning to make a substantial change to the overall dimensions of the car – believed to involve c.10 cms being removed from the height of the race car compared to the roadgoing version" The current design will see a much more modest reduction in height, believed to be at the bottom of the doors. http://www.dailysportscar.com/2017/0...t-daytona.html |

Looks a lot less salloony than the M6, which I approve.

The press photos, on hold due to contracts or so 2 publications have claimed, claim the diffuser is intense and VERY subtle compared to the mammoth bustles sprouting out of the back of the Aston, GT and others. Will be an interesting car to see, but I fear it will appear even more boat like that the current M6.

Wonder when the embargo lifts on those photos?
Sounds like the aero work is more hidden away underneath the car rather then having a whacking great diffuser out the back of the car like the Aston has |

I can't remember the site for the life of me, one of those rabbit hole things where i started reading one thing and next thing am hour is gone. But it sounded like a BMW writer in tune enough to be invited to a private test. He made it sound like the unveiling would be soon.

Not sure how appealing the looks are so far. Need some livery and a rear wing I guess. I hope that BMW take the same approach as Ford and Porsche and give the same livery and car numbers to both the GTLM and GTE Pro teams.

Auto und sport has a picture of it in masked form...the mirrors and swan neck rear wing are very similar to the 911.
It also looks smaller than the concept 8 in length and the front is much more slanted down than M6. http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/motorsport/bmw-m8-gte-modell-2018-sportwagen-wm-wec-11577786.html |

Much too svelte. It's a shame they couldn't beef it up a bit. They could do with Bentley joining the ranks too.

Many thanks.
I think it looks too much like something out of DTM from that angle, even the M6 looks more 'GT' then that. What I would give for another Z4....Looks aside its fantastic to have BMW back in GTE again, cant wait til next year to see how they go against the establishment. |

I think they'll go well, with lap times almost identical to the establishment.
