Yes that is true but you would also have to consider the transmission losses converting the transverse engine to RWD. I would like the opportunity to develop a C70 Volvo GT3, it would surprise a lot of people.

In 2013 SCCA World Challenge Pirelli we could see the GT3 cars vs Volvo S60. Is the SCCA Volvo S60 FWD?

A lot more aero parts at the rear of the car in comparison to the 2012 car.

I posted that in the Porsche vs. Ferrari thread. The GTE version looks close http://www.gtspirit.com/2012/12/14/r...58-italia-gte/

I have the impression it is Reiter doing everything still, but now with a blessing and funding from Lamborghini.

According to a couple of pieces appeared on Italian weekly Autosprint and a little whisper from an insider (dating back to last april) Lamborghini has brought "in house" design, development and production of GT3 cars. Carrozzeria Imperiale (Lamborghini "coachwork", and already involved in the Supertrofeo) is supporting them.

It's a 5 year agreement, minimum. This car is for 2013 and 2014. So it's safe to say that in 2015, when GTE and GT3 are combined, there will be a new model. Hopefully from the successor of the Gallardo.

Apart from that, the bad news is that they will deliver to reiter the ugly last Version of the Lamborghini Gallardo (Anyway Reiter isn't selling too much so no problem cause we will not see much apart from BES and SRO Sprints), the good news are the Cabrera/Deimos/???? GT3 will arrive faster to racing..

Maserati MC Granturismo GT3 undergoes homologation:
"Maserati will be among the contenders for this year's GT3. On 5-6 February the GranTurismo Mc will be subject for the first time to the FIA approval procedures for the GT3 class. Starting from June, following ratification by the World Motor Sport Council (FIA), the Maserati coupé will become available to sporting clientele and can take part at international level in all world championships allowing such vehicles." http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...cus-15649.html http://gt1world.com/news/details/maserati-gt3-undergoes-homologation |

What does that bring the total of distinct homologated or soon-to-be-homologated (including the Bentley) GT3 models to? 16-17?

Here's what I know that are (or will be) still racing:
Aston Martin DBRS9 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 Audi R8 LMS Audi R8 LMS Ultra Bentley Continental GT3 BMW Alpina B6 GT3 BMW Z4 GT3 Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Chevrolet Corvette Z06R GT3 Ferrari 430 Scuderia GT3 Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 Ford GT GT3 Ford Mustang FR500C GT3 Ford Mustang GT3 (the one made by Marc VDS) Jaguar XKR-S GT3 (the Emil Frey one) Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 FL2 Lamborghini Gallardo LP600+ (officially this is a different Gallardo model) Maserati GranTurismo MC GT3 McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 Porsche 911 GT3 R (997 model - and various cup cars) VDS GT 001-R Not sure if all of these are still homologated or not yet homologated. Then you also have previous GT3 cars and cars not homologated by FIA. Ascari KZ1.R GT3 Chevron GT3 Ferrari F430 GT3 Ginetta G50 GT3 Ginetta G55 GT3 Jaguar XKR GT3 (Apex Motorsports one) Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 GT3 Lotus Exige GT3 Maserati GranSport GT3 Morgan Aero 8 GT3 Morgen Aero SuperSports GT3 Mosler MT900 GT3 Venturi Atlantique GT3 I'm sure I missed some cars. |
