But getting back to the weekends racing.

Whincup hits Frosty resulting in Frosty's retirement from the race. Whincup Losses 15 Championship points

Premat runs Webb off the road. Webb losses places but continues in the race. Premat also loses 15 Championship points.

Either Whincup got off lightly or Premat was harshly done by.

Two instances of careless driving - one results in a DNF the other a loss of places, yet both guilty parties receive the same penalty.
I'm lost on this standard 15 point penalty, I could understand it for an incident such as Premats in which the other driver could a small amount of time or a maybe 1 or 2 spots. But for something that turns around another car or causes large amounts of damage surely the equivalent of a drive through penalty is appropriate. Just as a side note I believe the penalties in 1993 generally involved fines and or having to start at the rear for the next race.

I should correct my post above - of course Frosty didn't retire after Whincup hit him but lost significant time in the pits for repairs.

I too am lost with the standard penalty of what was 15 points onthe weekend. Depends on where you finished and what that actually means.

It can put you back from 1st to 4th or it can put you back from last to last

so what you are saying is you both just prefer cars taking each other out to make a position. That doesnt sound like your into motorsport to me, sounds like you are into crashes

Great assumption, based on the facts at hand.

All we've said is that we preferred how it was back in the early 90's, when it was ok to have a go, and make a pass with your elbows out.

Like I said a page or so back, if someone gets speared off the track or turned around, hand out a penalty. But don't penalise if there's a bit of paint (well vinyl these days) exchanged.

They'll get a penalty if they give someone a nudge from behind into a corner. Which is ridiculous.

Crashing and bashing into eachother might be entertainment in some quarters, but it is not motor racing

Abit of gentle rubbing whilst battling over a position is acceptable to a point as long as no one is disadvantaged, but any nose-to-tail contact forcing another car offline, or running into the side of a competitor and using him as your brakes, is quite frankly rubbish to watch, to an enthusiast like me anyway....

I agree with this, which is why its a joke that frosty could punt whincup off at sandown and all is well, but whincup couldn't return serve. Either allow it for everyone, or ban it for everyone!

when did Frosty punt whincup off at sandown?

and even if he did punt him off when has Whincup not been allowed to return serve?

I was agreeing with Peckstar. many people wouldn't give a crap about all these rules and regulations that confuse casual fans, alot of racing series will be catered for fans that like to see Entertainment, if you wanna see that sort of racing you gotta watch the V8 touring Masters or the Production series, but nobody watches them, although the oldies would be into the Masters series, they aren't popular and for good reason.

There is far less 'crashing and bashing' in TCM and the Australian Manufacturers Championship races compared to V8Supercar races

I just watched the event today and thought it was fantastic. I haven't seen that track before but that place is awesome. I'm also glad the drama doesn't make it over here... just racing.

A couple of thoughts: I wish there was an additional barrier in the runoff area or they made the drivers come to a full stop rather than to have to decide where to rejoin. Also, I don't like the time penalty being assessed after the race for the false start. This can lead to a driver affecting the race for a position he is not contesting. Assess the penalty during the race.

agreed, whats stopping someone starting early and in clear air pulling a 10 sec gap, like what happened on the GC couple of years ago, and then any penalty is redundant
