Mercedes, and Toto, seldom, if ever complain about decisions, they favour sorting out their problems behind closed doors with the officials concerned. I think Ascari is right, no point in pursuing the matter as the 10 second penalty is done and in the books. Somebody was suggesting that Hamilton could have had the penalty added to his race time, which would have been far less of a penalty than it turned out to be. Is that possible? I thought it only related to offences in the last few laps. |

If you have a pitstop then it has to be served then, if not it’s added. I don’t believe the lap it’s given on is relevant other than the later it is the less likely it is you have to stop.
In terms of race time it doesn’t make a real difference if running on your own. Although, I guess, the actual pit stop could be fractionally quicker as the mechanics can line up this guns and tyres while the penalty time is being served. It can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on track position and situation. If you are ahead and faster, but you lose a place because it is served at a pitstop you may have to overtake to get the place back. If time is added after you only have to pull out the required gap (like Dani Ric did). If someone is behind you and gaining, but initially you have enough gap, then it is better to serve the penalty through a stop (assuming both need to stop) as if you come out ahead the other quicker driver has to also overtake. If neither of you need to stop then they only need to get closer than the penalty time and no overtaking is needed. |

Sainz 'angle of attack' was much sharper than the likes of Danny Ric. Danny and others had run off much wider than Sainz, giving them a much straighter path through the cones whereas Sainz was much further to the right, thus having the effect of sharpening the pathway to rejoining.
Clearly a lapse of concentration / misjudgement on his part. Maybe during practice he had ventured through the run off on the shallower angles and did not realise the effect that the approach from further to the right had. |

The words 'rip' and 'shreds' probably come in the description of what social media are doing..... Of course, hypocrisy doesn't exist within social media, does it.....

We can all get a bit hot under the collar when things happen we don't like.
What adults tend to he able to do though is have at least an inkling of when to keep it zipped. Especially ones in a very fortunate position.. I'm not saying celebrities or those in the public eye have that level of self awareness though! |

Most racing drivers don't tend to have that ability straight out of the car! An apology does indicate a bit of self awareness.
Sportsmen are just weird really. Take Vettel for instance, who seems to be very nice and probably the most balanced adult on the grid yet when the pressure is on he is very strange at times. Have we ever heard him back down from his borderline insane behaviour at Baku in 2017 for example? They are all just oddballs. |

Trying to remember what the question was to the hilariously sulky answer I received!! However Ham had been on the podium and done a bit more post race mucking abaat before he uttered the infamous comment so he'd had time to consider a few things I reckon.. |
