I'm not sure. Beretta lives in Monaco, right? If so, I would assume that he has some cash stored away somewhere.

As for the rumor, it comes from here:

Or perhaps Mika Salo? Lots of money for the Finns like him Raikkonen hirvonen etc. with Jaime driving, Mika and Jaime got along well.

If Mika had funding to go to Nascar after seeing Raikkonen and decided Nascar was silly then maybe he can use it on a 458?

He's native Monegasque, so living there doesn't necessarily indicate massive wealth.

Completely made up but O´Connell & Cadillac perhaps? They´re already in World Challenge and I found the cars impressive when I saw them last year and they might be easy to adapt to GTE regs?

You really think GM/P&M would allow the Cadillacs to compete head to head with the Corvette's?

Hmmmm... last year there were 31 cars (of which 3 were ILMC GTE-Am entries, one was the Radical and one was Risi's old Ferrari before being sold off), so 27 more or less serious entries last year. 4 less cars right at this point in time...

And here's the list!

01x P1
03x P2
05x PC
12x GT2
02x GTC

Only three WEC entries (Larbre vette, Krohn and Pecom) and some very apparent teams like Dysons, BS etc missing. Interestingly ESM has 3 458s and RLL bimmers are under BMW Motorsport banner. No second Falken though.

I wouldn't worry about those numbers, and this is a very early draft of the entry list.

The 3rd ESM car raises my eyebrows more than the BMW entry. Could they be planning a WEC season with one car? As for the BMW's does that entry name suggest BMW is paying the bills...

Dyson's absence is noticeable. Are their cars not ready? or will they test later?

On more than one occasion, some teams choose to run in private tests, in lieu of the test days. I wouldn't get too worked up about Dyson, and Risi not appearing on this list.

Yes the 3rd ESM entry does sound like a knock towards WEC (and LM entry)... three cars in ALMS would be kinda overwhelming, although awesome As you can see the Tequila Patron -sponsorship is also missing from the extra car, which might hint something as liquor advertising is not allowed in France... or am I talking nonsense

However on the alms website it only mentions Larbre/Krohn/Pecom as the WEC entrants for the test so I don't know.

John Dagys confirmed on his speed chat it's simply a Michelotto test car run by ESM. Same thing Risi did last year and won't race.

Would have been cool if they were up for WEC. There is still a US team waiting to be announced on Thurs.

As for ESM, perhaps it is related to a WEC run. Perhaps Gerry Vento/Velox are running a 3rd ESM car this year in either the ALMS or WEC? They were doing historic racing with an ex-ESM 430 with ESM drivers last year, but that 430 is for sale on their website. Maybe they are trying to get back to bigger league racing?

EDIT: Nevermind, read Chiana's post above.

That ESM is running the Michelotto car, and Risi isn't, is an ominous sign IMHO.

Dominik Farnbacher? What is he up to nowadays? Think he is a former factory driver. Used to run with the Hankook Farnbacher.

Dom unfortunately never was a factory driver for anything.

And he wouldn't really have to start a team, as he or rather his dad already have Farnbacher Racing.

That said, rumor has it that the Hankook-contract isn't renewed for them and they'll focus on an ADAC GT-Masters campaign.

Farnbacher and Simonsen were factory Hankook drivers, although I am not sure if that has continued to the 2012 season.

Likely more de facto than de jure Hankook drivers. One can't fault Hankook for terminating the relationship at this stage, having never acquired a win despite producing very competitive tyres. A shame, but not necessarily an unjustifiable one. Dom has certainly acquired himself a reputation among Ferrari teams over the last few years but that will likely only help with enduro drives in this driver employment climate.

I think the point isn't as much a lack of success, but rather Hankook switching their focus to DTM and other European Touring Car ventures such as Superstars and the new Scandinavian Silhouette Series.

Paul Miller move from Yokohama to Dunlop this year as Krohn and BMWs.

The count down and schedule on their sites suggest they will race full season, but I've no idea if they've already get a 2012 car.

Checking out the list for the test day I notice that none other The Sacred Monster is aboard the Larbre Corvette and not with Level 5. It probably doesnt mean much but its interesting nonetheless that he wouldnt be listed with Level 5 unless they've gone their seperate ways which I havent heard anything similar happening.

Likely to be a typing error, third driver announced by Labre originally is Christophe Bourret. I´ll expect monsieur Bouchut in for L5.
