Takuto Iguchi (Subaru BRZ #61) says that they are struggling with proper tire choice especially in long run.
He says that one rank harder tire than last season is needed. The factors are thought to be the increase in downforce due to the evolution of aerodynamics, the increase in BoP weights and the increase in fuel tanks (100 litter to 120 litter). https://www.as-web.jp/supergt/682660?all |

Yeah. When both of ARTA & Studie raced BMW M6 GT3, I wondered how the #7 Studie lagged too far behind the #55 ARTA & suffered lot of issues. #55 ARTA was much less problematic even though the cars were same.

Jörg Müller was once furious because Team Studie's maintenance garage hadn't repaired the radiator fins.
He showed his performance by repairing the radiator fins himself. |

Just found out that The Race are currently in negotiations with Super GT about coverage on The Race's YouTube channel.
Regarding Super Formula, they're carried on Motorsport.tv, Red Bull TV and REV TV in Canada, but the news is that Claro Sports are joining in and will cover Super Formula in Spanish and Portuguese. https://twitter.com/SUPER_FORMULA_E/...83093427245057 |

Still nothing announced about the broadcasting deal. The organizers have less than seven days left to announce a deal now.
https://twitter.com/supergtworld/sta...23280027275275 (Last year, a deal between Super GT and The Race was announced 2 days before the beginning of the qualifying session. There's still hope, right?) Last edited by TheNo1F1Fan; 4 Apr 2021 at 17:38. |

The series is looking good this year, don't see why they wouldn't put it on the telly. Let's see what happens. Maybe a deal will be done after the first race

Why is it so difficult to make a deal? Japanese bosses always talk about expansion of their series. Fans around the world would like to watch it. What always prevents to make these deals? It all looks so frustrating. It appears that they switched their SuperFormula broadcast to a caffeine soda channel and, to say the truth, I couldn't watch the whole race recap because I lacked tech inside. If bosses want to put their stakes onto show-only component - it's their business, but I won't watch it anyway. I watch racing because of tech stuff. If commentators have no clue about physics then I have no interest in that sort of a show.

Sam Collins will not commentate Super GT this year. That means there might be no Super GT on The Race. Back to the lacklustre Motorsport.tv again? Or is Red Bull TV a possibility? |

It seems like that the first race of 2021 is listed at Motorsport.tv, but it's listed as premium content...

This is all a total joke. All of it. All we wanted for this season is coverage on The Race with Sam Collins and Rob Barff but instead we get Motorsport.tv and these boring lacklustre commentators just like 2019. And Premium Content is a nail in the coffin to it too.

Honda Masahiro Saiki large project leader commented that NSX*BS could not cope with the road surface temperature in qualifying.
The reason why #1 and #8 did not exceed the time of the official practice session may be because they used different tires from the qualifying session. For the final race, there is a chance if the tires they choose fit the conditions. https://jp.motorsport.com/supergt/ne...i-sat/6184631/ |

Tsutomu Tojo (Team Tom's engineer) says that they strategically simulated the race on tires with different compounds for #36 and #37 in practice session.
Finally, the hard compound used in #36 was selected. In the qualifying, the road surface temperature exceeded 30 degrees and it was in good condition for them. Tomorrow's race is also expected to rise in temperature. https://ameblo.jp/tsutomutojo/entry-12667755707.html |

Tomoki Nojiri (#8) says that NSX had a symptom that the machine balance changed depending on the condition from the test. In qualifying it worked in the wrong direction. In the official practice session, Fukuzumi set the fastest time, but Nojiri and Fukuzumi's machine feeling was not so good. However, long run time is not so bad. |

Naoki Yamamoto (#1) speculates that Toyota introduced secret weapon related engine. Because they could exceed the speed in qualifying without wing angle change.

Race day press conference by GTA (Masaaki Bandoh)
https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1317859.html *About Class one GTA has licensed class one regulations and intellectual property rights. We will take over class one intellectual property rights from ITR. From now on, it will be called SGT GT500 Regulations instead of the name Class One. However, the content of regulations and parts suppliers remain the same. *About Okayama special BoP Okayama has a narrow escape zone, so we adopted this special BoP for safety reasons. Regarding GT300, we wanted to introduce a speed limiter, but since there are vehicles that can not limit the performance with that, we decided to install weights. This is because it was judged that if there is a weight, the impact at the time of a collision can be reduced. This special BoP is a measure only for Okayama. I don't think there is a need for a special BoP in SUGO because it seems that Success Weights are loaded. *Are there any carbon-neutral measures in SGT? E10 fuel can also be procured by domestic manufacturers. However, there is a current problem with fuel costs, so consideration must be given to avoid burdening entrants. For carbon neutral, there may be measures such as improving engine fuel efficiency, limiting the number of engines, and shortening the race distance. It is also possible to extend the mileage of tires. Regarding the regulation of 2024, we would like to reduce costs and consider the environment. We would like to increase the mileage for next season's race. By doing so, manufacturers will have to develop fuel-efficient engines, and tire manufacturers will have to develop well-maintained tires. *Difficulty in participating in overseas drivers We would like to request the government to take special measures for the entry of overseas drivers and race officials at JRP, MFJ and GTA. The PCR test for race officials will be conducted at least until the third round. *About the introduction of digital contents of SGT We had the SGT tab adopted by the sports navigation app of Yahoo! Japan. Also, in the official test, we conducted an experiment to make the onboard camera a 360-degree movie. However, it is still difficult to introduce this in live broadcasting. Race day press conference by GTA <Part.2>
https://supergt.net/news/single/20786 If you increase the race distance, soft compound tires that only need to keep the minimum stint (one third) will not be used. |

Autosport web reports the rumor that Toyota GR86 will debut in GT300 class in 2022 season.
At the moment, it seems that it will be developed as GT300 regulations vehicle. https://www.as-web.jp/supergt/686394?all |

TRD engineer Kazumoto Yuasa explains GR Supra 2021 development points. Since aerodynamic development is limited this season, we have developed other areas (chassis, engine). For example, reducing the weight of the chassis or changing the setup. Last year's high rake setup didn't work at Motegi. So we had to change the setup concept. Regarding the Okayama round, there is a view that the restriction on fuel flow may have worked in Toyota's favor, but he denies this view. Our engine exceeded Honda in the race, but was inferior in qualifying last year, so we have improved that point. But I don't think this fuel restrictor change has worked in our favor. We have also found a setup for Okayama, which has a low speed range in terms of aerodynamics. |
