shame for the number 8, but at least they left the top three out of the silly penalties.

Let's face it, #8 had a very bad day... and it just keeps getting worse.

A look at the lap time spread of LMP2
Average Lap time
And I thought Hypercar was close. Battle included - podium finishers and #31 which led near the end and went out late. A reminder that this only shows the battle between these four other cars may have led early on, but aren't included here. Last edited by Adam43; 10 Jul 2023 at 23:43. |

Above is a comparison of some key drivers in GTEAm, but I didn't show the cars. Here is the usual table and chart for the whole class.
Average Lap time
I think you can tell the cars that struggle with the bronze drivers. The charts are everything and just the best car from each manufacturer. On that Porsche looked the business at Monza. Corvette hampered by the success ballast they had. |

3 penalties and still in points and 23 in lead of championship - could have been a lot worse. Do Toyota run power limits margin a lot closer to max than others. Final penalty was a very light - broke rules for 2nd time in race - should have been a DQ (much worse than a bit of excessive wear on a scrub plate - different rule set yes). It also sends a signal that cars can go over power threshold once in a race without penalties- could be for a critical position change etc etc Do those power figures get released in other stats? |

The penalty seemed proportional. Or even harsh! And in no way does it send a signal you can chose to do it - it was easily noticed! If it was prolonged and helped with an overtake then it would be worse, just like track limits.
Surely the excessive wear on the plank is worse. It can be for being too low, which helps you all race. This was two very discrete moments! The data will make it obvious if it was intentional or a glitch.and the severity. They don’t release the data. There is a lot of it and there is no point. They released the important part of it - twice in 6 hours. I’m going to guess it happened for a very short period while the electronics caught up so twice in 21,657 seconds, might be a better way of thinking about it. |

Just ask Penske Porsche about that. That penalty at post race inspection at Watkins Glen was a doozy. Not only cost them the win, but dropped them to the back of the finishing grid.

Rules are rules. Must apply even if it's not a real advantage, its written in the texts. They all agreed the rules and walk on the tight rope. This is racing.

Cool - thanks.
Random unimportant fact: #50 set its fastest top speed on the lap of the race. |
