nope. just different. i can't be doing with the 6 hour races, they're 6 hours too short (or too long, depending how you view it ) but le mans is pretty special.

the detailed story of the race is absolutely epic, and totally absorbing, but i love the overall story too, the way the whole event shifts and changes. it's fascinating. so much to take in.

Does anybody know where I can find prices for entry tickets going for the first time next year but I dont want a package deal.

You can buy tickets direct from the ACO or from Nadine at the le mans tourist office, you will need to decide what you want to do there, either camping or staying in a hotel. Most people will camp but not all. There is plenty of information on the forum about campsites. Camping tickets range from euro's 50 to about 100 for the best campsites(although they are hard to get) the general enterance tickets are about 70 euro's each. grandstands vary from about100 to 150 euro's. If your party is over 4 people then if one person joins the ACO then the discount given on tickets will cover the cost.

Well, i better also update my Le Mans 2013 status:
I have today "pre-booked" the trip (said i'm in, but no future commitment than that), and it's with the same group as this year (organized by "kpkorsager"), but sadly, we won't be camping in "Dane-land" (Karting Nord), but instead be moving to Houx or Maison Blanche.
2013 here i come!

Wholly in favour of a grandstand ticket - largely for the focal point it gives you, and from my perspective an opportunity for some great views.

It also is a nice place to sit back, take a longer view over what's happened, and catch up on commentary etc. Sure you can haul a chair around, but that gets heavy over time, and a seat (which might also be under cover) can be very much appreciated.

Yep had to be done for what will be our third trip. Gentle progression year on year. Having got up ridiculously early in the rain on Saturday to hold down a spot - you have to think maybe there's a better way. If it had kept on raining we'd definitely be crying out for a GS. Luckily Ayse was able to sort that.

We'll be at the Ford Chicane anyway for the screen and the photos.

If one chooses not to get a GS ticket, the Karting Pit is a very good substitute.
