Taylor parked #7 with a bit of fire coming out at both sides, got out of the car. Got back in when the fire was gone. Couldn't restart and that was it. Fuel pressure problems it seems?
Montoya was hit and put into a spin by Vautier. He rejoined but was slow afterwards and had to park the car before it could complete that lap. No visual damage on the car as far as I could tell. |

No obvious answer on the Penskes. #7 suddenly stopped on track, was towed in, and didn't return. #6 was in an incident that didn't look that bad, then stopped on track a half-lap later, and didn't return (drive shaft? transmission?)

Thanks. I haven't heard a word on FOX. Maybe I missed it but I don't think so.

It I'm enjoying the alternative-fuel strategies here so we can see different leaders cycle through.

Porsche vs Ferrari? 2007 all over again? I think Tandy will close in the Porsche, and Pier Guidi in the Ferrari.

If Mazda can hang on I'll never make fun of AER/Speedsource/Doonan again.

Just to confirm, the #7 Acura's DNF wasn't contact related, it seems that both cars blew engines.

Not according to SC365. Montoya also said the engine in his car was laying down a few laps before the spin.

That onboard from the Porsche was uncanny resemblance to '07. From the Ferrari wiggle into the back straight, Porsche on the inside, right down to the way the Ferrari came back at the end of the straight. No need for contact yet.

Record pace for the post merger era? I don't think they'll get that close to 2009's record distance.

At this point, the #55 could win or be 3rd. The #22 looks like the stronger car anyway.
BTW I didn't see any puncture of the Continental for the protos. EDIT: big hit of the #90 right now |

Did Mazda just catch a break with that caution?

One mistake too many by Vautier?
He is very quick, but made quite a lot of mistakes today. |

That looked like somebody on the road texting instead of driving.
