I would think it will be coming out, I would be very suprised if they don't release it. I think I saw it advertised in Autosport a few weeks backs.

I've not heard anything in the trade about a problem. As we didn't get ours until the week before Christmas last year, it may be that distribution is not yet sorted.

It is a little worrying, however, that every specialist in the bookselling business has the 2004 edition at £9.99 and has boxes and boxes in reserve. It'll take a while for the current one to reach the rarified heights of the 1983 edition...

I have to say that my worry was that there wasn't going to be a 2005 book. I've seen the type of discounts to which you refer.

Have you evidence that it is going to be published - in English?

Promising news: I saw a wholesalers' release schedule today and the Le Mans 2005 is in there as normal, with a mockup of the cover and a release date of November. Price will be the usual £35 and there are English and French editions listed.

The big difference at a glance is that this year's cover is a montage rather than one striking image. I'm a little disappointed by that, but I'm sure they've done their market research!

2005 Le Mans Year Book

The 2005 edition is now printed and ready.

Jean Marc Teissedre is bringing copies to Istanbul tomorrow. I will have something to read after dinner, perhaps with a medicinal glass of red.......

There is a new publisher of the annual, Apache, who have done some stunning work in the past so the former glory will be restored.

Go out and buy it.

2005 LMES Yearbook

Those of you who find the Le Mans book a must buy should also consider the 2005 edition of the LMES Yearbook.

Stunning photography, great design and the best printing and production I have seen from this year's crop of books.

It is available from Apollo Publishing o.loisy@apollo-media.net priced at €42.

Before anyone comments, no, I do not have any connection with this book.

Has anyone seen a copy of the Dutch 'yearbook' that is called something like "Another 24 hours". It got a plug on DSC but they did mention that Malcolm had done the text, or it wasn't an impartial review...

I have a copy of 'More Than 24 Hours' right here if that's what you're referring to. Pretty good book but there's no text as such. It's really just a huge collection of (very good) photos. If you're gonna buy one book I'd suggest the official review.

Re: More Than 24 hours

The 2004 edition of "More than 24 Hours" didn't have any text at all regarding the race, whereas the 2005 edition does, albeit not too much. The official annual is a must of course, but that doesn't really give a proper race report either really, more a case of extended photo captions. Personally, I've got both and supplement them with the race reports from AutoSport (not what they used to be) and DailySportscar, but then I'm just a Le Mans nut.

Thanks Chaps, it was "More Than 24hrs" that I was asking about.

Ah... wasn't aware they'd made another. Can't really see the need for it myself but, should I see it, I'd have a look. If it was the same format as last year with a bit of text added then I'd have to put it back on the shelf.

Bringing this one back to the top... I heard a rumour at LM that this year would see no annual at all. Ludicrous really, given the local interest in the race this time around. Anyone else hear it?

I've not added to my collection in an age - I guess I should start looking on eBay again!

Would be very surprised if this were the case, unless there was a problem for either of the authors. They have been doing it as a team since the beginning, and they're not young men now.

I'm sure we'll see a 2007 towards Christmas though.

I scored a small bargain at La Sarthe this year - wandered into a shop and managed to bag a mint, unread 1979 edition for 35 euros.

Yeah, I can't see it not happening either. Nice one on the deal - I should have taken the list of books I wanted with me really. On second thoughts, after the amount I spent on diecasts whilst I was there, perhaps it's for the best that I didn't!

I've just had a look and I am missing the English versions from 97, 93 and 91 along with the French-only years of 94, 86, 83, 81 and 80. I guess it's gonna prove expensive

Only issue I'm missing now is the French only 1986 yearbook....

Have there been any 'special' 75th anniversary books yet ?
