That is called the truth and I completely agree with what Gow said and the way he said it as a fan it is a good thing that the series boss can be that open with the fans and teams and prevent any further issues due to someone being obnoxious and messing teams about like that

What did Alan Gow say - a summary please anybody?

Back to Subaru - they wish to promote the Levorg, which is pretty new to the UK market. The current Impreza is being replaced with a new model next year (5 door hatch only in UK), and the WRX will be dropped and not replaced. Or at least that is the plan as I know it!

Basically people deserve to know the truth. It wasn't cos his heart wasn't in it, it was because he couldn't pay the bills. End.

My point is that the name WRX has connotations of Rallying, not Touring Cars.
'World Rally eXperimental'.

I'm pretty certain everyone has a model/style and livery of car they would rather see, but if this is the car that the team/manufacturer want to use/promote and the livery is derived from those funding the entry - then it is the right car to use in BTCC.

The podcast should be on this site when it's been uploaded; the latest one there is after Brands.

That I don't agree on. Whether or not a car is suitable should be based on its chassis characteristics, not on its marketing label

But, the chassis characteristics aren't really that relevant nowadays to the BTCC. ALL cars effectively use the same suspension, gearbox (apart from the differences FWD & RWD) and the engine's power is regulated to give equality.
Effectively, the BTCC is now practically a one-make series for cars that look different to each other.
It does give spectacular racing, make great TV and therefore is a fantastic marketing tool for manufacturers & sponsors, that I why I see marketing reasons as far more important...

And that is the KEY point in all of this. Manufacturer backed motorsports programmes are always paid for out of the marketing budgets.

One thing I noticed is for the first time since 1998 the first five races have been won by five different makes

I listened to the TTT with Alan Gow on playback. I heard nothing about the Andy Neate situation. Has it been edited out?

Ha, I've just finished the episode too and came on here to say the same thing! Nothing at all. Normally, the podcast is edited and out by the next day, but this time it was 2 working days, hmmm...

Yes it has! seems mad especially when that was Alan Gow putting the TRUTH on record that fans and teams deserved to hear but now that appears to have been sugar coated much like the original statements that where made

Alan Hyde had to do the "Andy isn't here to argue his case" and so it is probably most sensible from a legal perspective to remove Gow's statement.

Maybe I'm over excited but I just feel like Thruxton, with 32 cars and a lot of pressure at the front, could have a sting for one or two this year... Teams maybe take one or two more risks for pace maybe, and then possibly more punctures.

its not a KIA factory entry. its only a customer car program where KIA make cars to sell to teams. like Seat and others do.

I would guess that Dynamics will be quite conservative, looking to stay out of trouble and bag good solid points finishes. I can see Motorbase pushing things a bit harder, especially AJ who will be wanting to make his mark.

My money says Flash will be leading the championship, with Matt Neal second at the end of the meeting.

Would like to see Rob Collard win one at his home track, he always looks overjoyed to win, like a kid on Christmas morning.
