I heard the same rumours about Proctor. The word being he's trying to get the Lynk and Co drive (because with Cyan involved it'll be a championship contender,) but it's reserved for a driver who will pick it up if their BTCC deal falls through.

At the moment it's a rumour. Might be true, might be hot air.

What’s been on at Snetterton today? Testing of some description?

Yeah, it was a 'Semi-Exclusive' test.

There would be no problem with Duckhams on a WSR car against Valvoline on an Alliance car… it was because of WSR’s other sponsors.

Whatever with the Duckhams thing. If WSR were to receive half-a-million or more to run a blue and yellow car instead of it sitting in the garage unraced I'm sure they'd find a way to get it on track.

I thought Gordon Shedden might get a drive with the Toyota however how good would it be if he managed to get the WSR seat. See if he can do an AS with rwd and fwd.

Fingers crossed.

Not if there are others willing to pay or bring sponsorship of that sort of value. Smalley wasn’t their only option.

BMW Germany have very little to do with the BTCC. The funding/partnership is all driving by BMW UK as the local importer.

The only thing that comes from Germany were the shells.

I don't think CP was saying Smalley was the only option. I think he was talking theoretically if he was the only option they would have found a way to run him with the livery rather than have the car unraced.

I know, I was just pointing out the fact WSR/BMW weren’t going to compromise as they had other options, plus I thought I’d get in before those who panic about loosing cars off the grid start bashing keys in a frenzied fit of woe

Very true. I imagine there's enough interest that WSR could run a fifth car if they wanted, but I get the impression that DB wouldn't want to dilute the squad any further than it is with four.

The best BMW liveries for me were the various Fina ones that they ran during the 90s.

Good imagination! They're struggling to find a fourth driver at this point.

Which is odd because apparently there were 4 drivers for WSR to choose from!

Were being the key word there. Collard went off to GT’s, Watson to Speedworks, Smalley to GT’s.

Have to say it sounded pretty arrogant at the time. Almost like they were holding an auction!

I wouldn’t say I was among the doom mongers but I now wonder if they may downsize . Moffat was probably among those previously interested . I can recall his father saying he was speaking to a number of teams before signing at speed works . If so that’s all the four possibles now spoken for . Huff still possible but more likely at speed works . Thompson Crees Proctor and Edwards maybe but none of them seem a good fit to me . Probably any of these to take the last PMR seat or if those mystery Cupra deals become true . WSR are usually well settled by now and have usually the pick of the bunch so I don’t see pay drivers and unknown rookies appealing either .
