Odd really, the big wheel has been rotated 90 degrees, not really impressed by this years effort.

It's OK. At least it hasn't got all that 'Mythical' nonsense plastered all over it......

that lost something in translation
From a purely artistic point it would be better without the car in the bottom right. And possibly if the GT was more generic. |

Something to talk about is GTE Pro which is going to be great. 2018 will essentially be the 2017 field plus 2 BMW M8's and possibly a 3rd or 4th Porsche factory effort. I can't see a single car being deleted. Plus GTE Am will be cool with the RSRs added in there and maybe a Ford.

Sad news. Didn't he drive the 4WD 962 back in 86 or 87?

Yes, he did in 1987 with Metge and Nierop. He was on a WM in 1986 and drove the WM n°51 in 1988, with Dorchy (who reached 405 km/h) and Raulet.

Wouldn't that also be the 961?
I don't recall a 4WD 962 at least But always sad to lose a Le Mans driver. |

Over the past few years a few of us based in the wider London area have had a bash at getting together in January, coinciding with the visit of vincegail to London for a non-motorsport sporting event.
The 2018 event is now rolling around, and after previous expeditions to the Bermondsey Beer Mile in 2016 and a series of South East London breweries and watering holes last year, this time round we're looking to visit some architecturally interesting pubs in the Holborn area. We're planning on kicking off at The Castle in Farringdon at about 1330 this Saturday (13 Jan), it's not the most interesting location but is easy to find being right by Farringdon station (Circle, Hammersmith and City, and Metropolitan lines, as well as mainline trains on the Brighton-Bedford line) and will usher in a trip to more interesting locations including the Jerusalem Tavern, the Cittie of Yorke, the Cheshire Cheese, and some other such locations. All welcome - generally tends to be a good afternoon of convivial conversation sometime even touching on the subject of cars going in circles. Feel free to DM me if you want further information and can readily set up a Skype or WhatsApp group for liaison. |

Thinking a pretty loose agenda looks like:
The Castle The Jerusalem Tavern The Cittie of Yorke The Princess Louise The Old Bank of England and then depending on points of view either The Cheshire Cheese The Blackfriar (ending at Blackfriars) or Gordon's The Harp (ending at Charing Cross) There's a bit of doubling back involved, but after last year's serial ascending and descending of different sides of Crystal Palace hill I don't think anyone will mind too much. It's also a bit Sam Smith's heavy, but they have rather cornered the market in interesting pubs around that part of the world, and they all do perfectly reasonable food to keep us sustained on the wander. If people can think of some form of sportscar connection to any of them or the bit of London we're going through that would obviously justify all of this in the name of research, but let's make that an optional deliverable. |

Purely based on ease of transport back to my B+B, I prefer Charing Cross. But if other people with less selfish intentions would like to end at Blackfriars, that suits me fine as well.
Looking good, Ian! |

According to Google, so it must be true, the Jerusalem Tavern isn't open on weekends.
At least the beer is cheap in the Sam's pubs.... |

Still, St Peter's loss will, I am sure, be someone else's gain. Bleeding Heart as an option is en route, BrewDog Clerkenwell isn't far away if people feel that sort of urge. I am sure we will not go too far wrong. |

Nooo! Sorry have been a bit busy recently. I will be in London over the weekend, but don't think the kids and wife will be that keen on a pub crawl whilst chatting about Le Mans - well our eldest would...
Have fun! I'll be at the Autosport Show tomorrow (Friday) if anyone is there... |
