Not that I've seen, which is why I'm so confused about how they are the lmdh base and people are already designing cars around them, yet we have no clue on the most basic specs!

Yeah, wondered that myself. The car will have to be on track a year ahead of the regs. And on track for Porsche testing in only a couple months, I'm going to guess the testing this season will be more mule than finished product

I assume the manufacturers have had the rules (drafts) for a long time now.
Perhaps the LMDh rules will be finalized and made public some time by 2025. Right after GM announces that they will have had an LMDh programme running for 2 years |

One pretty safe bet is that next LMP2 generation will be heavy.

A narrow cockpit is better aerodynamically, I guess.

Also, the first-generation Daytona Prototypes had wide cockpits, and they weren't exactly pretty.

But for a better example you can look at TS050 vs GR010 cockpit. Not to mention the likes of TS010 or 905. |

Not a P2, but a P2 constructor made a fast car:
https://sportscar365.com/industry/li...ion-prototype/ Not trying to race it, just have fun with the old chassis. |

Is there a market for such cars?

Yup, see Ginetta's version of the same thing. No, it's not hundreds of cars a year but enough to recoup some expenses and keep your crew working a bit
It's not much different than Ferrari's XX program and Aston and McLaren have similar cars, road derived GTs rather than this but betting similar pricing. HSR has multiple LMP3s that were bought with no intention of anything but historic and fun track days. |

It's likely that, unlike Oreca, Onroak still have a few unloved P2/DPi chassis gathering dust.

Ligier still beat them for protos with the JS P3. Wonder if Cool got a deal and promise they won't break it since Oreca wants it back for the collection later.

So we can add AoP to our list of jargon. Hopefully it results in more diversity in the class.

this won't actually "balance" anything... ligier and dallara aero/chassis are just bad in lmp2 configuration... how heavy you can ballast oreca, that won't fix ligier and dallara issues. |

The updates to make the Caddy appear to bely your comments there and those could be used as a joker if the interest was there to keep the cars used. But the locked regs limited that

The current LMP2 Ligier really isn't 'bad', clearly ranked second out of the four chassis choices available, just not quite up to par with the Oreca. A (potential) twice-a-year-adjustment would have gotten it in a similar performance window as the Oreca with relative ease and without major up/downgrades for either chassis. I expect the new Multimatic to be much closer - if not equal - to the Oreca as it's being developed properly from the start by Multimatic themselves. The Ligier should be there or there about as well. That leaves just the Dallara to wonder about but the company has plenty of resources to develop a much improved product this time around. |

ligier has always been extra draggy and despite the 2018 joker updates it still cant reach oreca top speed, some years ago, 2019 maybe, it was posted here an article about united drivers feedbacks after a comparative tests they did with ligier and oreca before they switched to oreca, and they said that oreca is basically better in everything... easier tyres managment, easier to set-up, better support from oreca etc... in my opinion the 2018 updated multimatic-mazda was already an oreca comparable car about overall quality, it was heavy limited by the powertrain. Anyway multimatic usually prefers focusing on working with manufacturers programs instead of selling cars to customers, so I won't be surprised to see tons of next gen oreca lmp2 everywhere and more porsche lmdh around than multimatic lmp2. |
