End of session--Audi, Audi, Toyota, Audi, Toyota, Audi top 6 for final session, and probably overall.

Good effort from Toyota at the end there. I'm glad that they went for it!

Very good showing for Toyota! I can't help but think though that Audi can run these lap times the whole 24hrs, and the Toyota's race pace will be much much slower than what they showed tonight. Can't wait for the race this weekend!

Impressive stuff from Toyota. What makes this even more significant is that the track wasn't really all that quick in the closing stages, only few cars improved their times and Pierre Kaffer was telling Eurosport that it was very slippery out there.
I think we'll see some first hour fireworks from Toyota on Saturday. Audi will be playing it safe and the Toyotas will be keen to impress the visiting boss. |

Looking good for the race. Great to see Toyota mixing it with Audi. Definately think Toyota will push to lead the opening laps of the race.

Toyota 3rd overall with a 24.8. Not bad at all, I'd say job done for this year.

I've been suprised by the pace that Toyota has shown, so I hope that this means for a good race! Am I right in assuming the Aston Martin Pro team is on pole?

as i thought the pole was around 3.23.7! duval did a really amazing lap in his 3.24.0! i knew that he could do the difference at le mans; while very disappointed for the not so good performance of the #2 (i don't speak about #4 because the line-up mix simply has no sense).
Really amazing toyota! i always thought that davidson or sarrazin would be the fastest of toyota drivers but sincerly not so fast, the #7 and the #8 shown a really good rhytm running in around 3.26-3.27 during last laps. Surely audi will win the race, but maybe not so easily like could be. |

The contenders were fast, both trying hard this evening. The Toyota kicking up sparks on the rumble strips and the Audis being aggressive in traffic.
The Rebellions were the fastest of the rest through the corners. |

The GT Am cars are rather mixed in with the Pro cars. Good job by Aston Martin!

Thanks for both the links fellas
Toyota was .055 away from splitting the 4 Audis. However, like most people, I expect Audi to be 1-2-3 by the first pit stop, if not the end of the first lap and pulling away fast. I just hope the Audi show is entertaining to watch. I can't help but imagine where the 908s would figure in all this. Personally I'd think Peugeot would be the quickest of all. I still dont understand their decision to pull the plug on the program. I think the decision was political. Something they could do to pretend they were cutting costs as much as possible. The decision to pull the plug was about as sensible as halfway building a fleet of Peugeot road cars, only to throw them all away. Your much better off finishing the job you already spent enormous resources on that will return a profit rather then axing it at the midway point. But no, Peugeot had to look like it was doing something to please investors, the government etc so they chopped the racing program |

Good point about where peugeot would have fit in...Pity they not here..Would have love to see audi , peugeot and toyota battling it out..Toyota is showing good signs of speed but we are yet to see reliability....
Saturday evening we see all the cards on the table.. |

Anyone have any info the average laptimes between the R18s and the TS030, since Toyota have said that the Audi diesel power and torque are still seemingly a sizable advantage and that Toyota expects the Audis to be noticeably faster over the course of a stint?

Really hope the Corvette's can repeat last years performance. Not getting my hopes up for the overall race as I don't see Toyota giving much of a challenge to Audi.

To make your race debut at Le Mans and put on the performance that Toyota have is nothing short of spectacular - brilliant job.
I doubt either car will finish but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't try to lead the early laps - this would leave a lasting and impressive first impression. |
