The thing is, I dont think the BTCC cars will be all that much quicker than TCR.

I've been led to believe that TCR cars aren't that challenging to drive. Where BTCC NGTC cars look a real handful and the drivers all talk about a very narrow window you have to operate in to get them to work. I guess you could say that's where the progression would be? Strange that there is no difference in ultimate pace though I agree.

Stuart Lines posted on Facebook a while back that they did 1.12 ish testing at Donington in a TCR car on old tyres. BTCC race pace is 1.10-1.11.

I expected that they are faster then Cupra cars, but then I take a look at qualifying at Oschersleben
2005 WTCC Pole James Thompson in Alfa Romeo 156 1:31.926 2017 TCR Pole Gianni Morbidelli in VW Golf 1:31.426 2010 WTCC Pole Yvan Muller in Chevroelt Cruze 1:32.481 2015 BTCC Pole Mat Jackson in Ford Focus 1:30.685 I am surprised that TCR and NGTC cars are just a little bit faster then old S2000 cars. After all they have 50hp and 100hp more then S2000 cars, and they are only 0.5 and 1.8 faster. |

Full spec Cupra cars are quicker than them normally. More power...

When they brought out the Cupras they detuned the UK ones by 50 bop to make them slower than BTCC

Oulton Park today in Britcar had a NGTC Avensis and TCR Leon on track at the same time.

NGTC 0.7s quicker that TCR in qualifying, but TCR 0.7s quicker that NGTC in the race.
However, I'm not sure how much of an accurate comparison this was. Toyota was still using 2016-spec GPRM parts with a driver who had barely driven the car before. |

Heard some rumours that the BMW Compact Cup might be a support race? Anyone else heard this?

The BRSCC are probably just juggling their existing series around rather than creating a truly new "package". |

I guess the strength of any UK series in terms of people attending trackside will be the price of the tickets. What are the estimates for ticket prices? £20?

Not sure ticket prices are a relevant indicator tbh. Ticket revenue goes to the circuits not the clubs, so the clubs dont market meetings and the circuits dont bother outside BTCC or BSB it seems.

Club meetings were £20 for the weekend at MSV circuits this year. British GT was £25 for the weekend. I expect TCR tickets will be the same as any other club meeting.

The support package will be pretty good! Already confirmed for the whole season are the Mazda MX5 Supercup & Formula Ford.
But now also (during some meetings) VW Racing Cup & Civic Cup. Let's hope the TCR UK get's around 20 entries, so those weekends will be pretty good! |

I'm warming to this idea, it's gonna be like the NSCC of the 80s and 90s, which is good. It's certainly got some good series on the calendar too. Hopefully the series will be worth it
