I mean it’s been pretty well documented that it’s expected to be McLaren. Speculation of course, but from those in the conversation with those in the know. Isn’t a fan forum the perfect kind of place to discuss that sort of thing? But hey, if you don’t want to allow any speculation on this forum, please feel free to ignore it completely |

Bcarr6, we have to be careful nowadays how we talk and write. We may spread fake news by mistakes. Perhaps it is McLaren, perhaps it is not. We can't take it for granted. Fingers crossed to be them. Their GT3 car is beautiful. A new GT2 will be too.

Except we are NOT the media, speculation is the business of the forum. No one hear is speaking for the team, just repeating reported information gathered from various sources. And there are clues in the way things are written to indicate to you what level you should trust information. It's your job as the consumer of news to parse and decide what you want to believe it trust. Blindly swallowing whatever is offered shows a lack of effort on your part not ours.

most realistic options for GT2 coming in the near and not-to-distant future: Mclaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, Lamborghini, KTM...once the third and fourth manufacturers are announced and the 2020 season get underway, I'm guessing we'll see quite a few more into play.

I did quite clearly suggest, that it was speculation. As said above, Juntos, feel free to just ignore speculation if it doesn't please you to see it. The point of this forum kinda is speculation and discussion. And your fake news comment suggests a political undertone im sure no-one wants to get into here, so lets keep it racing... |

James Sofronas confirming to S365 hes ordered 6 Porsche GT2 cars already, and is expecting to order a minimum of 2 Audi GT2s.
Pretty decent numbers from one team alone... At least 2 of those Porsches are planned to be SRO entries in 2020. |

Wow! I did not expect to see a single team with so many cars. Would some of those be spares I wonder? Or are all of them even planning on being raced? Could some be track day cars?

It sounds like he has some on order for clients. I would say a few to race and a few are rich guy toys. But if 50% of them race that's still a decent start.

Audi tell me that 80% of the interest that they have for the GT2 is for cars to be used privately and not for racing

Sadly that's what I was addressing of with these. They just had that appearance of the high end club cars like Ferrari's FXX type car although not as high end or exclusive

Curious why, and it doesn’t say it’s no forever just no for now.
Seems the GT2 category hasn’t swelled in manufacturers in a hurry, still think it makes sense as a class if it can get established though Name still doesn’t make sense |

Imo I think it's a pointless class of car with only Porsche and Audi. If it doesn't prove popular I feel it's DOA.

Sadly it appears to be heading that way quickly. It appears they are considering GT2/3 races in a couple series next season. Not a great sign when you were planning separate events not just races

It looks like a 10-15 year old kit copy of a Reventon, but that's not a bad thing.
I do have a few questions there. It can't be a X-Bow underneath all that. But it does meet their idea, and the Lotus philosophy is always nice to keep alive, of make it lighter. And nice to see the SRO is allowing a power-to-weight ratio to build the BOP. |

Looks great imo. Looks like it could be in hypercar, honestly. It's 1000kg and has 600+hp. A little more aero on it and they could probably convince the ACO to let it in.

Remember this one: I think it's basically the same car, just with a more sculpted body. |

The success of the car will depend on the sales price.
