Looks like there are still a couple of places remaining on the grid for this year, I'd imagine these would be filled fairly quickly judging by the positive reports in Autosport this week! Sounds like the race weekend programme was pretty good too - did anyone manage to grab one?

Apparently KBS are negotiating to take over an additional car, which is presumably the unused Comtec car.
Also, an eight race Winter Series has been announced which will be held at Snetterton (9-10 Nov) and Brands (23-24 Nov). |

Very busy at Brands Hatch today. Lots of cars preparing for DTM round next weekend. Interesting to see Scott Malvern out in a KBS run car.

Looks like CDR have made their first signing with Luke Williams, making the switch from FFord it seems. http://www.formula4.com/news/luke-wi...r-brdc-f4.aspx
Anyone know how much tickets are for this weekend? By all accounts the racing at Silverstone sounded pretty good! |

Sounds like another really positive weekend for F4 at Brands. Four race winners in total now and three different winners across the weekend as well!
By the looks of it, Robertson is really fighting his way into championship reckoning - three podiums at Brands and was on it all weekend. |

I've been to the last few DTM events at Brands and always enjoyed watching the Formula Ford support races. I was disappointed they weren't there yesterday, but pleasently surprised at how good F4 was. Both races I saw were excellent and far more entertaining than anything else on the bill. They had a full grid of 24 cars and I saw lots of close racing and overtaking, especially compared to the F3 race. That was tedious to say the least and those sat around me looked completely bored and disinterested...
A lot of effort has clearly been made to knock BARC Renault and Formula Ford off their perch and make F4 the dominant series at this level. Based on yesterday's evidence I'd argue they've already achieved it. Anyone else at Brands yesterday? What did you think of F4? |

Much as it breaks my heart to see Formula Ford like it is, it's been slowly dying for a while. Yesterday's F4 races were great and although I was so cold at the BTCC meeting that I thought I was seeing double, even that didn't disguise the lack of cars and action in the Egoboost race

I was at Brands and Silverstone for F4.
I think MSV deserve some credit for what they've done, they've created a series which for the public was a secret until October and have built 24+1 cars (plus crash test chassis) and sufficient spare parts to keep things going and got all 24 cars out on the grid by the second meeting. Out of 6 races there have been 4 winners and the cars have been shown to be able to race each other closely. Plus one of the ambitions of the series, to have 'dads and lads' being able to run strongly has been achieved with Matt Bell taking two wins. |

It should be about the racing at this level, not teams having years of data with which to use to the advantage of the highest bidder. I watched all the F3 races live on TV and whilst I'm sure I was seeing some remarkable talent on display and possible stars of the future I can't say I found the experience exactly gripping. |

I was at Brands Hatch this weekend and saw all three of the F4 races. As at Silverstone they didn't disappoint with great racing all the way through the field.
I'm looking forward to the highlights on ITV4 which I think have moved to Saturday morning at 11.40 rather than the usual Sunday evening slot. |

19 cars out yesterday in testing for this weekend's Snetterton races: http://www.formula4.com/news/f4-test-snett.aspx
Should be a decent grid again - do we reckon Dalton to lead the title race on Sunday night? |

Just had a look at the Oulton reports from yesterday. Sounds like a good day's racing. And look how tight it is in the points standings! How it should be.

Great to hear Pietro Fittipaldi won at Brands Hatch today! Sounds like he's been on it all weekend! Shame for Jake Hughes though who looked like he was going to take a win. http://www.formula4.com/news/brands-...-1-report.aspx

It seems that Falco Wauer has left Team KBS before round 6 of the series, at Silverstone this weekend.

Yep, Wauer's gone. Shame, he had yet to show his true potential. I remember Autosport's article on him, when he debuted in the 750MC F4 event at a soaking Brands, and completely nailed it in the wet!

A shame to hear that Wauer left the championship, but I suppose funds always get tight during a season. It just underlines how making series affordable is still so important. I do question how other series will stand a chance - how much will it cost to compete in FR1.6 or FIA F4 do we know?
Nonetheless it seems there was another set of good races at Silverstone this weekend judging by the reports on the website. It's pretty good to see the amount of winners and podium finishers in the championship, clearly the driver line up is very strong! . |

Part of me wonders whether Wauer's departure is partly due to his relative lack of results as prior to this weekend's Silverstone meeting, the only drivers to have competed in all of the races, but scored less points were Rahul Raj Mayer, Dan Headlam and Gosia Rdest.

As Wauer had the funds to test an F3 Open car with West-tec on Friday, I'd suggest that lack of funding wasn't the key factor in his leaving KBS.
Renault have published the expected running costs of the FR1600 series, as for FIA F4, I believe the FIA have issued target figures, but as of now, there are no confirmed plans to run such a series in the UK. |

Meanwhile, I believe that Gustavo Lima gave the car's roll hoops their first real test in the first Silverstone race!

Kipper - think you're on the right lines here. For whatever reason, Falco's performances simply tailed off after a promising start whilst others around him improved.
Regarding Ford and FIA F4 - that's more than a rumour, I read a week or two ago (Autosport?) that they were keen for Formula Ford to evolve into FIA F4. Guess they have to do something fairly drastic in order to prevent extinction! Who knows if that will come off but whatever happens, I can't see FIA F4 running in the UK next year, especially with the new Renault sereis coming on-line. Didn't know a car rolled at the weekend. What happened? |
