Should be a good show at Mid Ohio for these guys. Missed yesterday's races, but looking forward today's.

Where is the Black Swan and Green Hornet Mercedes? Was going to watch the race but when i did not see them, i shut it off. I could not care less about the Volvo's and Cadillacs as they are not real GT3 cars.

Tight circuit that proved difficult for these guys to pass, but Mid Ohio produced a good show for these cars. Pretty close racing throughout both classes. Too bad Randy stalled at the start as he and Figge fighting it out for the lead could have allowed the rest of the top 5 to get closer.

That is correct, they are not GT3 cars. They are SCCA GT cars:

Grand Touring (GT):
The allowed body styles within this class are coupe, sedan and convertible. The cars permitted in GT are typically sold in the market as “sports” cars, “sport touring” cars, or performance versions of “luxury” cars. Forced induction is permitted on cars that come equipped with forced induction stock, or on cars that SCCA Pro Racing has determined need help reaching the target horsepower range. Power output ranges from 425 – 525 hp. Weight varies depending on power output and tire size. All of the vehicles in GT are rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

I am not a big fan of the Volvos, but they are something a little different. And the Caddys are badass, IMO. Mercs are a great add to the show, but are not needed for me to watch this series.

I just watched the full Sunday race. They deserve live broadcasting and a proper television production.

I wonder how quickly the car/team will adapt to the Pirellis? So far their car has only run on Dunlops and Michelins!

They run GT3 in Europe on Pirelli so there so be quite a lot of information if the compound is similar

In GAGT trim to boot. I don't have much hope it will do very well. Apparently the Aston also has that bigger roll cage Grand-Am mandated for the converted GT3 cars.

Kevin Buckler is driving so I don't think it much matters what trim it's in.

He owns TRG. He has had success as a driver in the past but usually that was due to codrivers.

He was a reasonable AM driver, but I'm not even sure the last time he raced in a top level series regularly. Has it been nearly a decade?

Yep, he stepped out when they switched to Grand Am and the GTO.R. That would have been 2004-05.

Looks like dragon speed is going to be racing their r8 also but didnt read if its going to be in full gt3 trim or not.

I just finished watching a replay of the Sonoma race.
The GTS battle was great and the GT battle wasn't too bad. However the penalty against the Skeen Corvette seemed a bit ridiculous, especially considering how the #8 Cadillac spun the lead Volvo on the first lap and never got a penalty.

Yea I was there and surprised at bucklers pace and passes he made.im sure the car isn't within the rules but it did good.does the aston have the v12 or the v8?
