It's nice to hear from you Rowbo. It's nice you are in a team of talented drivers and I look forward to seeing more of your exploits this year. Whatever car you're in, whatever series you're in, I'll keep a close eye. You're a winner

Not the problem of the circuit, but it then took us twice as long to get back home, this time in rain that was lashing down, as two of the motorways we had to travel on were closed off due to incidents resulting in an almost 4 hour journey.
It sounds like you were sitting quite close to where I'd planted myself for the day.
The best exit from the circuit involves gaining access to the track at Cascades and driving down Lakeside. You then turn at Island Bend and are directed out of the circuit. I reckon I was out of the circuit within 15 minutes of the last race finishing. They were very quick in getting that exit organised this year.
That exit does take you on the country roads but the advantage is that there isn't a huge amount of traffic on them. With Sat Nav you can soon be heading in the right direction home.

Unfortunately we didn't have any option but to follow the instructions of the staff who directed us as described. It may be because we were parked in the Blue Badge area overlooking Knickerbrook, which would have been a great advantage if it had rained seriously.

Oulton I've heard can be tricky to get out of. Sometimes it's about timing, as it is just outside a quiet village.

I understand there is a test day at Donington next week. Is it open to spectators?

Yes but bare in mind mid-season midweek test days are usually dead public-wise, I'd be amazed if 25 members of the public turned up for it. Basically a trackday with more noise.

Related, I've heard acouple of driver substitutions are planned for the day to cover prior commitments.

It will be interesting to see who gets to sub, considering we haven’t seen any driver swaps YET!

We see the same every year at the mid-season tyre test. Some drivers will miss it as they don't have the budget, whilst those teams will find someone to stump up the necessary cash to pay for a few hours behind the wheel.

Be interesting to see if Creesy is one of the subs seeing that he's without a drive again.

I do wonder whether we need to make room for one or two more teams, would be nice to have a bit more variety of cars on the grid

There is room and I’m sure they’d be welcomed with open arms… there isn’t the money and/or interest at the moment.
