Who care's for Lexus, not going to happen. If Toyota haven't made the jump, then how do they justify the Luxury Export arm to do it??
I noticed that Toyota would rather put a massive billboard up across from their Port Melbourne HQ advertising the Daytona 500 win in the Camry, then putting a one on the grid. |

In Australia they had a factory presence in Series Production, back door support in Group C, a factory supported team in Group A and no interest in Supercars. Yet only in Supercars could they have a chance of outright victory. Perhaps someone, somewhere in the their Port Melbourne office understands just how much money Toyota have thrown at motorsport worldwide for very little return over the years and simply doesn't want to burn anymore cash. |

I've always said, if the formula up the engine sizes to NASCAR spec, that would allow give Toyota a easier entrance as they could use those motors, without going through the painful development process like Nissan has. |

You wonder where the couple of million bucks needed to homologate aero and engine will come from - but good luck to them!
Wonder if they are sharing resources with DJRTP? |

Often this decision comes down to who is paying the bills, if PRA are hotting up Mustangs and they want to promote their prowess maybe they do a more modern engine - but it would make a lot of sense to do the body and plonk the existing V8 in.

If it came down to budget and no manufacturer to develop. The smart bet would be to develop in 2 stages. Get the new body and areo tuned into the chassis with the current engine and the following year bring on the new engine package.
I'm wondering if 888 would take this path too? Can imagine plenty of Holden fans would like another year of a V8 Commodore? Probably see a few non factory Holden teams sit on the fence and run the current VF package. While keeping an eye on 888's progress. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk |

I read the article and it was clear it was where they want to head but the plan wasn't set in stone. Usually when a club or team in sport moves to quieten a rumour this quickly it's a sign it's a big possbility that that rumour will materialise but nevertheless every case can be different so I'll wait for more evidence before I come to a conclusion on this deal

It is still difficult to understand the Mustang play.
From a competitor brand perspective, having an Nissan Altima beaten by a Ford Mustang isn't that great.. a sports car (by association) beaten by a family car (also by association). Holden Insignia is also a family car. So for one of the big 3 to become a Sports Car... means an imbalance.. parity for one issue (air flow on a 2 door hatch appears way different to a liftback or sedan shape)... but also what the cars mean to the consumers in the carparks across the series. All sports cars or all family saloons... fair? |

Yet another Phelps story that is wide of the mark by the sound of it.
He makes the mistake it would seem of talking to the driver rather than the actual decision makers in the team. At the end of the day, Frosty is an employee and won't be the one making the call - although no doubt he'll be part of the conversation. Reference to the Mustang as a sports car I think is wide of the mark - it's a coupe much like Monaro or Camaro but that is semantics I guess. To me, Ford's sports car is the GT, GM's sports car is the Corvette as examples. |
