Despite Toyota's turbo issues it still posted the highest top speeds from all weekend

If it was a turbo issue after all:

"We had a significant hiccup in terms of the controls about which I can't go into detail," said Anthony Davidson, who ended up sixth with Kazuki Nakajima.

really bad for them... seems 2015 bad luck didn't leave yet #51 box.
Anyway is really strange that an engine that smoothly ran for over 24hours during daytona week-end, failed so soon.

Didn't the SMP 488 retire at Daytona with turbo/engine problems?

How does that compute? They have their worst situation happen in qualifying, yet set their top speed- in qualifying! Good catch. If it was a turbo problem, or engine, how fast could they go if they were running 100%?

GasperG has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Aparently there were control and/or downforce problems (grip), not engine power problems.

actually can't remember, but if am I not wrong the scuderia corse 488 finished the race. Anyway is quite weird that a GTLM engine fails like that.
BTW I missed first 10 minutes of GTLM qualifying, has been showed the 488 and ford GT telemetry during some onboard?

Toyota say otherwise. Unless they're playing down a bigger issue, they shouldn't be that far off just because it's wet, right?

They're not happy with the handling though - through the corners so they're losing out on entry and mid corner - if they sort that out they could go even faster...!

Or hold it last weekend when the weather was completely glorious? Or run it in the height of summer like 2005?
.
Live with it, it's North West Europe and changeable weather happens.

Rather have it in a warmer time of year. Pretty simple answer.

Agree, last year out of the WEC/ELMS weekend (April), Silverstone Classic (July) and the Motogp (August) the WEC weekend had the best weather. They seems to have decided to have Silverstone as the first race of the season and with how important calender continuity is for spectator numbers then it should stay like that.

Talking about the track action, still think Porsche will win this weekend and one Audi and Toyota will have a problem. Still should be a fantastic race!

Any of us British will tell you that you simply cannot guarantee any settled weather at any time of the year!!

Based on last December's overly mild temperatures the event could be scheduled for then!!!

I was there yesterday and there was great spirit amongst the fans. Loads turned up despite the snow early on and lots of jokes about Walter Rohrl or Hannu Mikkola being asked to turn up to help set the Quattro's up as Audi would be experts in the snow!

On track action was fab. Some very interesting angles from the cars in all classes exiting Copse!

I remember the instruction video from the ARDS course. "You have decide to race in the UK, so you must be prepared for wet races".

Basically people need to man-up. Fortunately real people who go sports car races are hardy souls. We're not talking about Monsoon conditions you get in the afternoon in Malaysia.

Had a canny day out yesterday, despite the weather doing it best spoil the show. After being a year since I last saw the WEC, you forget just how jaw dropping those cars are not just for the performance but the level of detail in them.

The pit walks for both the ELMS and the WEC were packed from end to end and it was great to see how many families were there as well as the youngsters really seemed to enjoy what was going on.

Anyhow, here my vid and pics from the day, the first few mins show how bad the weather was at the start of FP3. Also has the Quali and race from the ELMS.
