Technically true indeed, and he isn't too bad a driver. IMO Autosport's original wording was rather clumsy, not that I ever believed HARD would get a "BTCC race winner" mind you

So a little bit of background on this whole set-up... Daryl is only in the car as Tony still owes his dad money from last year. So you can bet there's hardly any budget going in to fund the drive. Unlimited Edition was set up by someone else who Tony owes money to, as a way to try and recoup some of £100,000+ he is currently owed. So again, you can bet no money has gone in if Unlimited Edition are going to be a main sponsor. And who owns the one car they currently have? That's right, the same man who set up Unlimited Edition.

This is how I read the Autosport story , that Daryl was already signed and this was for the second seat. Will be interesting to see who it turns out to be.

So….. just to summarise….
Team Hard are running a two car team this year, having not sorted their debt problems at all, and in fact trying to settle a debt by running one of those two cars as a freebie this year. And we’re expected to believe that ‘lessons have been learned’?! It’s absolute madness. What could possibly go wrong…. |
