And during those 10 years 75 to 84, DJR, AMR, Ron Hodgson Racing also won the Great Race. That is four teams in total (really five counting Gown Hindhaugh -who entered Brock's 75 winner).

Which is greater variety than than past 10 years when only 3 teams have won.

Like I said, never in the history of the Great Race has so few teams had a stranglehold on winning the race.

well actually i was counting 78 to 87. Still 3 others but the truth was Brock had to DNF to not win in some of those years.

Why would they want to start increasing the field again?

(and yes i know there has been wildcards the last few years.... and i've never understood why they are included, either let anyone with a suitable car enter or limit it to the main series RECs, don't pick & choose the field fillers)

From 78 to 87, the only one of the three he didn't win where you could possibly argue he would have won would be 1981 (though he broke an axle after 3 or so laps, not long enough to really get a formguide)

He didn't have the pace to win in 1985 or 1986.

Since we get 0 Dev Series coverage here in NZ, how good are the Russell boys? I read that 1 is currently 11th in his 6th season, and the older hasn't raced for a coupla years....

I value experience for a Bathurst 1000 tilt over raw pace, so I would hope they would be there or thereabouts and just circulate all day, stay out of trouble and don't get in anybody's way.

GRM Commodore is a nice bit of kit, but turning up to Bathurst without having driven the thing, especially with the fickle rear ends on the COTF cars, is a tough ask.

Wonder who will engineer the car or whether they will get any GRM data. So many questions.

I gotta admit I'm excited to barrack for these guys, the family seem like old school racers and I think those boys work pretty hard for the craft.

I hope the producers give them lots of TV, hard graft out there to bring a sponsor into the sport, so lets make them happy!

Interesting to see Hexis splashed across the bonnet, hadn't seen the brand in Australia and outside of sportscars for that matter.

Hexis are a backer of GRM.

They supplied that lovely red vinyl the car is currently wrapped in.

Drew has 7 Dunlop series starts and a class win in the 12hour, and Aaren has good current seat time and apparently did impress when he drove the LDM car, and the boys seem to have sensible aims.

You'd think maybe top 20 in quali and top 12 in the race with an undamaged car and lots of coverage would be a fine day out for the boys.

Awesome to see more second-generation racers out there too!

Of course, depends how much safety car action we get and that the car is reliable. Without so much experience I hope the thing isn't a nightmare to drive! GRM had both Commodores in the 10 in qualifying in 2013, so the data could be a good place to start!

Noonz tells me they will get a test before Bathurst so that is something at least.

This instantly brings back memories of Janet Guthrie in the Second Ron Hodgson Torana at Bathurst.

She had never ever driven a right hand drive car. Has this one?

I had wondered if the original release was confused

Assuming they will have the reigning Bathurst winning co-driver in their corner.
