The Nurburginring races are a pleasant to watch when you don't have constant issues with weather. The 6 hour race was one of the most enjoyable races to watch in 2021 so far in sportscar racing. Hope the 24 hours gets good weather this year. At least in the day time parts.
But I think the case for best GT driver on the planet right now is between Klaus Bachler and Matteo Cairoli after seeing them at Monza in GTWC and so far on the Ring. |

Looks like 125 entries in the N24 - very solid entry considering how low it got last year.

One thing announced is that the 2022 race will be 28-29 May rather than the previously announced mid-June date, thus avoiding a clash with Le Mans.

That is good. As much hyped memorial day weekend is for auto racing as a whole. Sportscars never has much going on in the 2nd half of May. This helps with that.

It's good, but wasn't it moved away from that date due to every year having stoppages for insane weather? Such as hail, and mad fog through the night?

It has usually taken place on either Ascencion Day weekend or Corpus Christi weekend, both public holidays. These days move around (because they are a fixed number of days after Easter) and when one is unusually early or late the race is switched to the other. The original date for 2022 was set for Corpus Christi weekend 15-16 June and announced as part of a five year plan in 2017. They were obviously going to have to change it because of the Le Mans clash and have now done so under pressure from the big GT companies, moving it to the Ascension Day weekend it should always have been on.

Is it the Acension holiday the one with what look like Christmas trees on high poles?

10000 spectators allowed in the GP circuit for the 24 Hours. Pretty thin gruel but a step back towards normality.

Example 2014 Easter was very late (april 20th) 2014 N24 was june 21st. 2016 Easter was very soon (march 27th) 2016 N24 was may 28th. Sometimes happens N24 is anticipated or postponed for reasons, remember in 2015 N24 was anticipated to mid of may, can't remember why. |

It only Tuesday so maybe it might shift a day or two hopefully. Also hope we can be spared of rain at least during the daytime parts of the race. I agree, trying to watch this race in rain is not pleasant viewing. Spa 24 is the same thing. And that race has been hit with bad weather worse in recent years than the N24 amaizingly. I generally don't like watching races in the rain unless you have some sort of strange dynamic in the race occur like in Petit 2015 with GTLM making a bid for overall victory against the protos. So yeah in the past I looked forward to rain in the race in IMSA at the very least but that ended when they ditched the Conti tires.

Looks like its supposed to be showers all day/night. While that isn't ideal it should cause a lot of drama if the track continuously dries and then gets wet, etc. It's much better like that than a constant soaking rain.

I hope they don't geo-block it this year.
They did last year and I missed the first 90 minutes of the race finding a suitable and working stream. |

If anybody wants a good VPN recommendation, to get around the geo-block restrictions, check out NordVPN; I've had it for a while now and am completely happy with it

What an absolute corker! Had 6 different onboards plus the main stream and was difficult to know where to look. Some stunning driving and laps in remarkable conditions. Gutted that I can only watch a small amount of the race
