AA The Spy.
Which V8 Supercars team is having to crack open the piggy-bank to keep its cars on the grid this year? The Spy is hearing money from two major sponsors has dried up, putting the team in a precarious position. Erebus? LDM? Erebus has been self funded for a few years now? And Solar wasn't on the Merc at Sandown... |

I'd suggest Nissan is more at risk. Constant sponsor changes, and not using its own brands like Penske does, and its still yet to confirm Moffat in its fourth car - which it does still want to run. |

Not sure that $40mil includes the GT team.
There was a lot spent changing the outward appearance of pretty much everything, to be more 'Betty'. |

The maths for the v8 team is a long way short of $40mil |

I'd say that $40mil included the purchase of the team, at least one REC, the refurbishment of the main race shop, all the new signage, re-branding, the big-dollar season launch, and of course converting everything from Ford to MB.

Probably would have been cheaper to start from scratch, and achieved the same in the long run.

The late '00s Maximas were the same.
You were supposed to pull the radiator and everything out to replace the alternator as part of a recall. I figured out a way around it, that cut an hour or so off the job. |

Yeah, probably.
Hardly ever see them on the road, and even then, they're someone's repmobile. |

An aside for today... is it just me or are most of the AFL grand final crowd still standing on the grass rocking out to Bryan Adams?
Its a great concert.. Ellie Goulding is next up. Wonder why that atmosphere does not occur at V8SC rounds at RockNRace? Maybe its that the headline act gets up before their fans before the nite is over Learning for V8SC Events? |

It looked like it..
The crowd wasnt really excited to see Ellie Goulding in the beginning, wanting to see their AFL team instead, but certainly warmed to her. Imagine a Saturday night concert like this at Homebush, with all 25 racers appearing on stage at some point during the nite at different times.. The missing element? |
