Rossi to Ferrari in 2007
Just read an interesting rumour on another website that there is an agreement between Rossi and Ferrari: he will drive for Sauber in 2006 and join the big team in 2007!

"Interesting rumour" indeed! But does anyone really believe that a rider/driver could emulate the greats of bygone years and succeed on two wheels and four?
I have my doubts, but if anyone out there right now can do it, The Doctor can... |

Question marks are a grammatical feature used to indicate that something is a suggestion, theory or rumour, and their use is recommended on threads which are not 100% factual. They look like this: ?
I'd love to see Vale have a go at F1, but I'm not sure he could jump into Sauber and do them justice, unless he does lots of testing and/or some F3/GP2 races next year - neither of which are likely to please Yamaha, especially with their Toyota links. Also, there's no way Ferrari would commit to signing a drive so far on, especially one who's completely unproven and not guaranteed to adapt. I suspect this comes from one of the less-than-brilliant forums out there, and is probably someone's attempt at wish fulfillment on a slow news day. |

I don't expect this story to be anywhere near true.

Interesting rumour but Rossi would find Formula One far too boring. I reckon he'll go rallying if he ever gets bored in MotoGP. He's already competed in one rally, why not do it again on a full-time basis...

I suspect that one (Villeneuve) is true.
On balance it makes sense, and the details are too specific for it to be a punt. |

Either driver might bring some form of charisma back to the sport.
Though Vale's antics would probably be frowned upon as actually being funny and would probably earn him a ban or something! |

How about this, Rossi wins the MGP championship, does say GP2 for a year to learn the cars, graduates to F1 and wins the championship a few times, then goes to WRC and wins that championship a few times. He then retires from full time racing and goes and does "one-off" drive at the Indy 500 and Le Mans and wins them both, making him the best racer of all time.

I don't see why Rossi or any other current biker can't emulate the likes of John Surtees for example....even today.
If a Biker has the talent to do well in F1 then why not. I wonder if there are any F1 drivers who might consider doing it the other way and going two wheels? And who they might be? Cheers Peter |

If anyone can make the switch, Rossi can, but I think that even though he's only 25, he's already too old to be a serious contender for an F1 title (and I doubt he'd settle for less). Maybe rallying will lure him when he finally hangs up his leathers.
On the other hand, F1 could do with his personality at the moment. On the third hand (!) - I hope he continues to wow everyone on a bike for a good while yet. |

Although MotoGP is thrilling this season, it'd probably be even better without Vale winning so often - and, because he's onyl jsut joined Yamaha, this could be as bad as thigns get for him. Like Michael, it's hard to imagine anyone beating him in the near future, but he could feasibly have 8-10 more years than Michael.

I don't think Vale has any intention of staying around in MotoGP for a further 8-10 years. He's already on record as saying he gets bored by winning too easily, and one more season on the Yam, to underline his brilliance, will probably be his lot, sadly. Maybe, though, just maybe, he will move to yet another bike and attempt the same feat again, making it more of a spectacle for those who like close racing.

I want to see Rossi in F1.....he'd do well i reckon, as long as he stepped into a top car mind.
If he started off in Minardi, it wouldn't work. However, this 2007 rumour is bull****. |

Read that Rossi has no desire to be in F1, but would love a chance at the WRC.
