Audi Sport UK to race Bentley

Audi Sport UK have been given the green light by the VAG group to race against Bentley on an equal playing field.

This meens that they can fight each other for the outright victory in any race they both compete in, with no team orders allowing Bentley to win over the R8.

Audi Sport UK have said that we would not spend this much money on a race car if we could not stand a chance to win.
They also hinted towards Frank Biela, and that he may drive for them.

I miss understood that! I thought they were going to race with a Bentley not a R8.

It could be a good battle. The R8 against a car with another year development and some Michelins.

Roll on June.

What sposorship will the Audi UK car carry?

Whatever they can get (within reason) otherwise they'll race on dealer money

I think they will come to Le Mans well Prepared, both technically and finanically and driver line up shoudnt be a problem. I think Bentley will take the win though, still I dont doubt the Audi will do well.

Unfortunately I think Audi are spreading themselves thin. Capello and Kristensen are at Bentley. Pirro's at Goh, and Biela is at Audi UK. Im not sure I really see an R8 out there thats a favorite to win.

Audi teams possible line-up (i have no idea what is Champion thinking about):

Audi Goh: Jan Magnussen/Seiji Ara/Emanuele Pirro
Audi UK: Stefan Johansson/Perry McCarthy/Franck Biela

Are this guys favorites to win Le Mans, aren't they?

What about Dalmas? he should be mad keen for his next win?
looking at the above the audi uk looks the better bet, but if Champion can pull together a decent line up the extra experiance with the R8 may work in there favor.

yeah but can they beat Smith/Capello/Kristensen? Thats probably the best lineup of all cars at Le Mans VAG or otherwise.

You can't ignore that Le Mans is Le Mans...you could have the best line-up but You can lose the race.

True, but the driver lineup is one of the factors you can control and going into the race is one of the prime factors.

With the works-drivers equally split up, any VAG car might win LeMans this year. At least it should be more interesting than the procession of 2002!
