HSV Dealer Team short of funds?
In an interesting twist on a team with a reasonable amount of unknowns, there is an advertisement in the New Zealand Herald Weekend Edition on Page 25 of Section A offering Sponsorship Opportunities with the HSV Dealer Team.
"A unique opportunity exists to be a sponsor of the HSV Dealer Team at the Pukekohe V8 Race. This one-off opportunity will provide your business with a unique marketing solution and brand recognition across New Zealand and Australia. Packages can be tailored to meet your needs including meeting the drivers - Rick Kelly and Garth Tander - and tours of the pits. Sponsorship packages from $10k to $50k are available. To register your interest......... Become part of a winning sponsorship now!" What is 14 x $50k? A cunning way to enhance the team's sponsors fund if these ads are run prior to each event. Also, what does $10k-$50k get you on a V8 Supercar team and what is it's retention from a single round of exposure? Am I better to spend marketing dollars at $10k a round for the season or for $50k for 3 rounds? Is this a cry for help or leveraging the opportunity? |

Better taking $50k and restickering the bonnet than taking $0k and running the thing in plain colours....
I doubt the team are seriously short of cash, but the above makes economic sense when the dollars coming thru a non-Holden door are limited I understand there may be a different livery on this car at several rounds of this year.. which means Biante will be a bunch of busy people making a different car per design... |

yeah on the HSVDT website it has an email for sponsorship enquiries. i think the hsv sponsorship is only temporary until they get another permanent one.

I think CrashBandicoot could be a problem for most sponsors.

Dont forget that Kmart Racing (2004-style) has had an ad on sponsorshiphq.com for a fair while now, looking at additional sponsors for their operation.... as have FPR....

Points don't necessarily get the signage you paid for onto the TV, either, but getting pole does!
No points if you crash out of the race either, but do it spectacularly enough (hopefully without killing anyone) and it will get replayed over and over and over and over - your signage might be upside down, but it will get some exposure! |

What i was referring to was that the Corporate Sponsor Reps would be there for the race and want to see race results, not just pole position. It doesn't mean a lot over the whole meet.

When you are in 40th of 42 cars, & it is running like a dog, so at 1/2 race distance, you tag the wall on the run out of T 4, do about five 360 degree spins downt the front straight & end up in a smoking wreck on the grass in the middle of the Tri-oval. In the post race Pit-Lane interview you then say " Well the HSV Commodore was runnin real strong today & we were certainly a chance for a podium today, a real shame we tagged the wall. I'd really like to thank our Team sponsors, Holden; HSV; Biante Model Cars; My Dad's Fat Wallet & this rounds special sponsor, GTR Magic's share portfolio . And my great new personal sponsor, PS2's Crash Bandicoot 4. Our sponsors are really great for us, and we will be back next round at the front of the field. Or somthing like that......... |

Thanks 911, the Old Uncle defies the theory that with 10,000 out of work comedians, Why Start Now ?
All we need is young wreck, to give us a similar spiel & L.G. Especially after tagging some Concrete or Armco in the next 2 races. I mean, heck the kid is fast, but slow & steady wins the race. (well some of the time). Just ask Steven Bradbury....... |

What are the odds of Crash Bandicoot spinning onto the grass at the end of the straight... barrel rolling 5 times... and ending over the fence...
and the replay being played a million times !! |

Could this actually be a good marketing technique? If they can succeed in selling all of the spots at all of the rounds, they get some local sponsors interested in them at each round, some of whom may decide to come on board in a bigger way in future. It provides smaller companies with an opportunity to get some signage in front of a local crowd - why would some shop in Perth or NZ want to pay for advertising in Sydney or Melbourne? You never know, once they are in, they may realise the advantages of the TV coverage, and up their spend for a permanent spot on the car.
