Looking forward to this weekend.
I will be sad to see the "Old" Anglesey track configuration disappear to be repleced by an all-new facillity. Anglesey Circuit (As it is right now) is the most basic of venues......no real protection for Marshals etc (In fact, it's everything we moan about) but we love it! We love it because it's like that.......it's sooo informal - great racing (Always) and great people to work alongside. Questions I have been asking myself - Will the new facillity mean that "Manning" will be virtually impossible? Will the "Big Boys" ie, F3/GT, BTCC (Hope Not) come to Anglesey? Obviously the competitors will want to race on the longer track configuration but I just fear that we won't be able to provide enough Marshals to allow it to happen. Anglesey "Just" about manages to satisfy manning levels on the present layout at some events, so I think they will struggle in the future. I sincerely hope not though - people don't know what they're missing and I am quite excited about the new plans - just have to wait and see! |

After reading the finals it looks like a very full paddock. It will be the end of an era in some respects - but I'm sure the changes will be fantastic.
Look forward to seeing you there |

Stephen P.S I am in one off the Mono cars and have a camera fitted so will be able to remeber it. I have been going sonce 1990 rallying then circuit so have seen a few changes and can't wait if all the plans do take off. Great for North West motorsport. I take it that the old layout will not be used again, whether in conjunction with the new one or not?
If so, that's a pity. I think they've missed a trick with not having an extra layout to their name... |

I still say, personally, I would much have preferred the circuit to be added to than completely changed. Effectively add extra bits where the major sections of the new circuit will be (up behind the current paddock and over beyond Abbots), but leave the current circuit. Still have three potential circuits, but keeping the old one - thus not losing the great corners that are already there.
Still, the changes are a happening, and I'm sure they'll be ultimately for the better. |

There are reasons for not using Radar, Hairpin, and Douglas, but I won't go into them. School Corner does remain on one of the FOUR new layouts though.

They could build a bloody big pontoon.
Offshore racing - a free-for-all, with no-one to uphold the rules and regs (Similar to the BTCC). It could then be towed towards Ireland for "Away Days" |

[QUOTE=Dave Brand]I'm quite optimistic about that. Manning levels seem to improve almost meeting by meeting - once people have done one meeting at Anglesey, they keep coming back. It's the only circuit where this year I've had to discuss with the observer where we were going to put all the incident people as I'd never had so many on the post in question (a team of four on Post four!). Depends, of course, how many posts there are on the new circuit.
having just received my paperwork, the list of incidents doesn't seem to support your theory |

I am heading to Anglesey for the first time this weekend - thought I'd learn the circuit for the future!
Looking forward to it, even if its wet. Oh, and how about one of the layouts being purely for the BTCC guys - they seem to make their own circuits everywhere else. Last edited by Race4Fun; 16 Aug 2006 at 15:12. |

Personally I suspect that there is a risk that any longer a layout will mean worse racing. After all it does almost everywhere else so why should Anglesey be any different.
And to add to that controversy; no race should be permitted to start without at least 50% of the maximum permitted number of entries. And no club level races should be longer than 20 minutes. We seem to be running more and more races which would be better described as "Trackdays with timing" and some of them are deadly dull. (Plenty which aren't - you know who you are. ) All right, I will go and hide now. Regards Jim |

Today at Anglesey (Once we got started.....around 3pm due to weather) we had some of the best racing I have seen in a long while. Big grids (Except mono's) 13 min races - Huge satisfaction! IMHO - all that will disappear from tomorrow! |

If the new facility is to succeed, there needs to be somewhere for people to stay!
The Island at present is struggling to accommodate holiday-makers and weekenders.......never mind marshals/teams etc. I'd love to see it become more successful than it has been - but I, like many other people I spoke to on Saturday fear that most of what we like about Trac Mon will disappear. |

I am fearful - but optimistic at the same time.
I do believe the track plays a key role in what we like about the circuit. But I also think that the biggest thing is the atmosphere at the circuit - by the sea, in the sun (Well, last season...), camping and socialising, it's a great place for that. I don't think we'll be in a position to use the full "GP" circuit apart from big promoted meetings, unless we suddenly get a dramatic increase in marshals. And, looking at the plans of the National and Coastal circuits, the track has clearly been designed to continue the "feel" of the old circuit. It won't be the same - it can't be - but I'm really hopeful that by this time next year those who enjoyed "old" Anglesey will have had the chance to enjoy the "new" Anglesey, and will certainly have done so. |

I'm sad to see it go really. Just before I left, I went up to radar and watched the final race. it was a really good race, plenty of good moves into the hairpin, and it was sunny and warm, how I always hoped to remember the circuit from 2005 (the wether that season at Anglesey was superb).
Anglesey has a reputation for being small, hard for overtaking, good veiwing sights and a brill place when it is warm and sunny. I know the new circuit will be a completely new challenge and hopefully will bring all competitors in all regular championships to the circuit to a level playing feild, and bring an unexpected race winner the first time a championship uses it. I first visited the circuit, and it chucked it down with rain when JnrJnr did his first test there in a FF. His bro Goughy showed him around the track, and I followed them around. That was in 2004 I think, and I will always remember that day. I much prefered going racing at Anglesey to Oulton, even though my team seems to do better at Oulton. At Oulton the paddock atmosphere is very professional, and very strict. Whilst at Anglesey, it is very laid back, easy going. Not saying that Oulton seems an unwelcoming one at all. That is what I hope won't happen to Anglesey. Lossing its 'old fashioned' feel. Yes, it needs some pit garages. Yes, it needs a decent race control, but if the track turns out to be a great one (which from the sounds of it, it seems to be that already) then I for sure am going to enojy the many weekends I will ahve there in the future. I can last minute lunges into the final corner on last laps for race wins, and just the sight of seeing the car in second slipping down the inside. Can't wait already. Do we know when the first configuration will be ready to race on, as I have heard the config using the left side of the site will be ready first. Cheers |
