Alan Jones' Opinion
Alan Jones is the Channel 9 drone who spews out irrelevant schit before and after every race shown in Australia, comparing the Formula One of today to when he raced. We all known about his off track antics and the fact that a co-driver's unwillingness to conform to team orders cost him a second worl title but I found what he had to say about the Austrian Grand Prix an obsolute disgrace! He went as far as saying that Ferrari should do anything to let Schumacher equal Fangio's record and that what happened today is no different to the drivers in the 1950s sharing and swapping cars. There is a massive difference here, Fangio RACED to 5 World Championships, Schumacher DROVE.

Your sig sums up the farcity of Formula One and the reason it is called the World Drivers' Championship and not the World Racers' Championship.

About time Channel 9 gets some commentators who don't both support Ferrari to the extent that they congratulate another tained victory...

Did you hear what Eastlake said to Jonesy before the race when they were looking at a photo of him with an old Shadow? "Your lifestyle hasn't changed" which means chasing young girls around and milking his fame!

I liked the bit about crossing to Martin Brundle - then trying to explain something about Brundle "driving or testing or something at Le Mans" - wrong weekend and he's not driving anyway - apparently had family/personal problems. Eastlake and/or Jones must have made it up on the spot!Bloody hopeless and think they are talking to idiots - bring on pay tv.

I don't mind Big Daz, as he's always played the buffoon. But Jonesy is just plain annoying nowadays with the same bloody anecdotes (how many times have we heard the Austria '77 story?)
I reckon Sir Jack Brabham should be co-host! |

So Alan Jones' opinion is ****! (cause he's Ferrari man and boring)....So is Damon Hill's (he's a Schumi lover) and Juan Montoya's (he's also been a Michael fan forever)...
Other than that, the only other thing they have in common is that they're all WDC's and future WDC's. |

Dazzas comments abouts Satos crash about the cars are strong enough that the drivers can just walk away from a crash like that!
AJ telling him that "they didn't walk away" |

Anyone notice how AJ and Dazza changed their opinions during the coarse of the podium celebrations. First off they are saying how disgraceful the situation was, and by the end of the chat they were saying there was nothing wrong with what happened.
Actually lucky AJ changed his opinion, before that he was being a major hypocrite, wasn't this the man who wouldn't share the podium with his team mate in the '81 Brazilion GP because the no.2 driver wouldn't move over for him. |

I remember 1981 I think it was in Brazil where Jean=Pierre-Jarier (Matra) was ordered back behind Jacques Laffite while Reutemann (Williams) got in hot water for not allowing Alan Jones to pass him.

OK, hang on a minute dudes, my username tells me I have to defend my fat little mentor
When I joined the forum I picked AJ due to 2 reasons: The first being he was a WDC The second his habit of calling at as he sees it. The point being at least he would have the guts to call a meathead a meathead. Now I'm sure you'all will disagree but there you go, thats how I see it. As for the incident on Sunday night, yes, at times him and Dazza make blunders, like Murray and Martin have in the past so they ain't on there lonesome by a longshot. I have also heard many stories claiming he's not the nicest dude but as I have never met AJ, can't comment on that either On Sunday though, I thought he stated the OBVIOUS! It was all about MONEY. If some one has the tape please watch his comments, I was tired but I seem to recollect him basically saying its the teams decision and this is why........... sponsors etc etc etc If I'm wrong, please remind me and I will stand corrected. Oh, and I in no way am defending Mr Eastlake , he has no WDC to excuse himself with |

Yeah thats pretty much what he said. It was probably more D.E that changed his opinion, AJ just sounded like he agreed, Eastlake probably showed his opinion and when AJ disagreed all of a sudden Dazza starts agreeing with him

I'd agree with DMC on this one. Why don't we just take the entire ITV feed?
However, I will agree with AJ that at least the real AJ calls it as he says it. He doesn't like BS and he'll tell ya if it is. Although I am getting sick of the same anecdotes year in-year out! |
