SA gets new Race Track?
The link is Here
Interesting that there is interest in building a new circuit in Adelaide.... ... presumably the Adelaide street race would be under threat, as would the viability of the Mallala circuit... Interesting times |

While the Adelaide 500 has an exclusivity contract with AVESCO for V8Supercar rounds in South Australia, I'd imagine there's no threat at all.

If the venue currently used for the Clipsal is made 'unavailable' then it doesn't matter what their contract says - no venue means no race.
But I like this section: Quote:

Gentlemen,
It is a plan to demolish the existing stands, etc at Victoria Park, shift the car track closer to Fullarton Road and the current "in track" (at the rear of the current pits) will become the "out track". The Horse racing track will be reshaped to be very close to the existing pit row area. It won't happen because the "tree huggers" will not allow the parklands to have permanent buildings. And there is the question that one of the existing grandstands is "heritage and national trust listed". Mike |

Peter Lewis was talking GG racing, anyone who has been to the Clipsal 500 knows that the organisers are well up to date.
Talk at Mallala was of AIR reopening as well |

Whether it referred to horse racing or tadpole racing - to make a comment such as that is stupidity at its best - to tell everyone you accept that some part opf the state is actually living in the past doesn't give you much confidence in the group to stay up to date in future.

This seems to be the same or similar proposal that came about after the 2000 ALMS race, this was not recieved well by the Greenies around the Adelaide parklands (Even though the proposal actually reduced damage to the parklands) and pressure was brought to bare on the government who then cancelled the ALMS race. Let's hope this doesn't happen to the 500.

If the redevelopment was to go ahead I don't think Mallala would suffer at all as I doubt the inner city circuit would be allowed to have club racers and all the rest buzzing around all the time.

what an absolute load of RUBBISH ,what has been said by a certain team owner and the press would be polical suicide for the current government .There will be no changes, infact the current venue is only there by the grace of GOD [OR WHAT EVER YOU LIKE TO CALLTHEM]....

Sounds like a TC type announcement. I'd nearly bet he wrote it.
